DJL 232 #76 April 19, 2006 I finally looked at this article and I have a question. If a tracking dive travels parallel with the horizon then do you actually go UP flying birdman?"I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
Vertifly 0 #77 April 19, 2006 I finally looked more intently at dz.com. Does this mean that you are just as assuming in real life or more?
LouDiamond 1 #78 April 19, 2006 QuoteIf a tracking dive travels parallel with the horizon then do you actually go UP flying birdman? Both trackers and wingsuits follow a decending glide slope, however, if you compared the data from a tracking dive to a birdman flight the graphs would look noticably different. While a tracking dive graph will show more horizontal movement compared to a normal skydive, it will not show any where near as much horizontal movement as a person in a wing suit. Since gravity is the wingsuits "engine" that the suit converts into lift,we cannot actually gain altitude like an aircraft or even a glider can. We can for short moments flare the suit, similar to what one can do with their canopy, to slow our decent and one may be able to discern a slight altitude leveling off or gain but only for a matter of seconds before the suit stalls and gravity continues the suits decent on its glide slope."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

It would make sense, but of course it doesn't, and neither does the graphic in the article. Thanks for pointing out that other obvious problem with the article.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
DJL 232 #80 April 19, 2006 If the parachutist atmonauti diagram says that a tracking dive doesn't decend then I just can't argue with that. In real life I have to assume that my college physics, mechanical engineering, and aerospace engineering professors were wrong.
