shah269 0 #26 February 3, 2011 The way to learn how to land YOUR canopy right as a n00b, is to go land your canopy...a lot. Yes! There is no better way to learn than to do. That is true. My best landings were my last 2 which were made from a hop and pop on the last day of the seaon. But that being said...it doesn't hurt to maybe have a better sight picture. Took me all summer to work that out. And now it's winter and well...I have to rebuild it. Yes the vidoes are far from perfect but it's better than nothing. Just watch the last 30second of any non swoop landing should give the average person where they should be on final and what they should be looking out for and more or less...where they need to start thinking of pulling those toggles to their knees. Remember for you guys with thousands of jumps its not that hard. It's like me getting on a 250 and hitting every apex with out much issue. But I have thousands of hours on the seat of a fat 1100CC bike. For me to say "Oh it's easy" would be disrespectful. Now if I had a video showing how I adjusted my body and moved my chest across the tank and dropped a shoulder into the turn and pushed the inside grip I think most would have a better understanding of how it was done. So all this aside, seeing how it's freaking freezing in most of the US. What suggestions do others have to help people who are still new to feel comfortable come spring. Watching a video of a non swoop , you have NO idea of wind conditions , canopy WL , canopy type etc... Ever see one non swoop video that looks the same? You cant learn setup from watching a video. and the 250 and 1100cc thing.. 1100cc bikes are fken OLD , handling could never compare to a modern 250 , and hitting an apex isnt hard , since the apex can exist anywhere depending on your racing line. Edit: Go jump in the cold weather. Do 26 hop and pops. It's the best way to learn. Do a canopy course. Get video you can review. You've been on these boards fro two years. A noob can become one of these at any point, but the larger the amount of noobs, the more chance pointless spammers will appear. Off the internet, noobs appear anywhere the focus is on learning or discussing something specific. III. Behavior of noobs Since noobs are basically ignorant bastards, they have a lot in common. The most often seen characteristic is their fluency in noobish, which is why it got its own section. They will also be very self confident as if they were the absolute best at what they are in fact the worst at. Take the time now and look for a canopy course. You can probably find one now down south or make a point to find one near you when it gets warm.
