Pride 2019

Recommended Posts

Hopefully on a positive note -

Last week's Pride parade in San Diego went off with almost no hitches.  The one hitch was . . . our float which broke down just after the parade started.  We had so many people in our group (400+) that the front of the group didn't see that the float had broken down and at one point we had about 1/4 mile of separation.  A golf cart was dispatched to stop them until the float (now being pushed by a dozen people) caught up to us.

It was cool to see the trans active-duty military out in force (even had a re-enlistment ceremony at the start of the parade) and even cooler to see a flight of F-15's that made a low pass over the parade route.

No protesters this year (a first!) and the police presence was strong just in case.  The weather cooperated - it didn't rain on us like it did three years ago and it wasn't 102F.

Related  indirectly:

We just returned from 3 weeks in Norway and the UK, doing the tourist thing.  We met people working  there from all over the world: Australia, NZ, Hong Kong,  PRC, Malasia, Thailand, Moldova, Khazakstan, India, Nepal, France, Portugal, Italy. . .  even the USA.

I think Chicago is pretty diverse, but London easily has it beat and even the Scottish Highlands have people from around the world there.

I thought it was great to meet and talk to these folks, all of whom are in the UK by choice.

No doubt Boris J. will try to ruin it.

The UK seems determined to deliberately out-stupid everyone. Like it’s a comedy competition but they’re the only person who doesn’t get it so is trying REALLY hard to win...

And they are succeeding, except for the fact the USA has them well beaten on the stupid front.

With Brexit and Boris Johnson? I'm not sure about that.

Well, Trump's tax cuts and trade war are going to be very damaging to the economy (and Trump has stated he 'doesn't care' because he won't be in office by then).

And Alex Jones and his ilk, while not as overtly racist as Johnson, are just as despicable.
