Entomologists don't study spiders.

Is this the same argument you use when someone protests against when scientists comment on climate?

I ask - Because . . . Well, you are wrong again.
I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama

Um, only if you think the past is the present, and 'historically' means 'now'.

OK - why don't you ask her then.
Maybe - yeah - That has to be it! She LIED to me that she studies spiders.
OR - Well there is a second option - maybe she isn't REALLY an entomologist.
You can ask her.

Or maybe you just have no idea what you are talking about. Spiders aren't insects, full stop.

Historically the study of entomology included non-insects. These days not so much.

That doesn't mean she was wrong about her comment on spiders. Even you are right some times.

To tie it to your idiotic comment about climate change, as a lay person I would tend to believe an arachnologist over an entomologist when it comes to spiders and you can keep believing whatever makes your thruthiness happy.

I have no idea what this person did or didn't say to you or what field they do or don't study. There are all sorts of possibilities.

But I was simply replying ref the wikipedia article you linked to as if it supported your point, when in fact it doesn't.
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

I sent her a message.
I asked - "You are an entomologist, right?"
She said, "Yeah, what's up."
I said, "Do you study spiders?"
She said, "Yeah, mostly anthropods, but we deal with arachnids too."
I said - "LOL - stupid Internet forum discussion . . . How do spiders taste?, is it really with their feet?"
She said, "Yep - so when they are pressing their feet on you they are actually seeing if you may be good to eat."

The rest was about the upcoming hurricane coming her way. . .

So - whatever.
