GOP hates America

Recommended Posts

The Republicans can't govern because they have never developed any policies that make sense. Deport 12 million immigrants (but don't punish the employers who hire them)! Let the poor, those with preexisting conditions and the self-employed go to the emergency room! Keep 100,000 troops in Iraq forever! Torture terrorist suspects! Crush labor unions! Make workers pay higher tax rates than hedge fund billionaires! Poison the environment!

The only tool they have to enforce these tantrums is to shut the government down. It's like watching a bunch of five year olds crying and taking their ball home.

What do you want? This site is not American, so if you don't like any criticism about the USoA, go and leave the site.

Many of US guys here seem to forget where they came from .....

The GOP isn't "America", much as it would like its supporters to believe that it is.

Well, well, well...

Those 20% of GOP radicals certainly have an outsized influence on my personal life. Like Citizens United, ACA, etc.
Case of tail wagging the dog?

And tell that to the hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis, Afghans, etc. "Americans are a generous people," love peace, and don't support the GOP and its militaristic foreign policies.

Gimme a break.

We have no clue where he is from (located), he hasn't filled-out his profile. For all we know, he could be from a farm in England or some steamy city in the Orient. I smell a fish!

Just as not all Muslims are bent on killing infidels, not all Christians are self-righteous assholes and not all atheists are Satan worshippers, so not all Americans are right wing extremists. The right wing extremists just like to wrap themselves in the flag and pretend that makes them the only patriotic Americans.

I agree!

But the fact is that this country has been hi-jacked by the 20%. That includes the 1% of outsized wealth, and the 19% of uneducated followers.

And another 31% of religious fervents, "follow the leader,", exceptionalists, etc.

In a winner-takes-all society, 51% is 100%.

P.S.: What really went wrong with the GOP over the last 20-30 yrs is this: they are no longer representing the best interest of Americans. And keep in mind: Americans that didn't vote for them are still Americans!

They are just beholden to their sponsors and ideology. Nothing else matters to them.

How is that different from the Democrats? Neither party represents "the People." They all represent the special interests who have made them
multi- millionaires.

And welcome to America, where you can speak as you please.

Or, The internet video was responsible for the unscheduled attack at a protest?

It's not a party issue. Both major parties are awful, and supporting either of them is supporting more shittiness in the future.

They're also not as different as their supporters try and pretend, except in a few points.

One that I do take issue with is the torture one, you can't exclusively chalk that up to republicans. The rest… probably fair enough, but it's disingenuous to pretend that the democrats aren't doing piles of horrible shit, too.

Shutting the DHS down is a step in the right direction, even if the republicans are doing it for dumb reasons. Next let's shut down the IRS, the DEA, close some bases overseas, stop funding and supplying militaries overseas, etc.

And ... the EPA, ...

Yes, it was great in the good old days when we had places like Love Canal to build homes and schools on, and the river would catch fire in Cleveland.

Yes. Love Canal. Where the Government ignored the safety concerns and began eminent domain proceedings. The corporation told the government not to do it. Government didn't care and despite the repeated warnings decided it'd be great to put a couple schools in. Because that's what governments do.

Maybe that great and caring government didn't contaminate soil and groundwater around MCAS El Toro, either.

If one thinks that our government doesn't have a history of polluting places, take a look at the Bikini Atoll

Bikini, Love Canal and Hanford were polluted BEFORE the EPA was created, when everyone (corporations and government) thought Earth was an infinite sink for their toxic wastes.

Most of us prefer that Superfund sites aren't created in the first place. Clearly you don't mind living in a haze of toxic fumes and drinking polluted water.

So come back when you actually have a point.
