>Check Ohio.

Check!

==============
Fraud just a tiny blip of 2012 vote
By Joe Vardon
The Columbus Dispatch Friday May 24, 2013 6:34 AM

Secretary of State Jon Husted said his office did not find evidence of a single instance of voter suppression in Ohio.

0.002397 percent.

That’s how much voter fraud there was in Ohio last year, according to a report released yesterday by Republican Secretary of State Jon Husted. Out of about 5.63 million votes cast in a presidential election in this key swing state, there were 135 possible voter-fraud cases referred to law enforcement for more investigation.
===============

Looks like you'll need to spin pretty hard to claim that that is "disenfranchising" you.

>Self destruct?

I'd say so. A group of GOP lawmakers is telling the public "to hell with democracy, we' refuse to do our jobs until we get our way, even if it means that means hurting Americans." The more responsible members of the GOP are telling them they're crazy, and they should do their jobs. When you have your own party telling you you're crazy, and the leaders of the party can't even hold it together - self destruction pretty imminent.

Republicans are all about how great private industry is. If you ran a business, and several of your managers simply refused to do their jobs - would you keep them?

COLUMBUS – Secretary of State Jon Husted today released the first ever statewide report on voter fraud based on a review of cases by Ohio’s 88 county boards of elections and the Secretary of State’s office following the 2012 Presidential Election.
“This report demonstrates that voter fraud does exist; but it is not an epidemic,” Secretary Husted said. “More importantly, our effort to look into irregularities and root out voter fraud sends a strong message that no amount of fraud is acceptable. If you cheat, you will be caught and held accountable.”

OK, Bill. It not an epidemic, but in Ohio, it's still there. Can you say the same for Chicago or New York?

Going to hell with democracy? What's so democratic about the US Government forcing its citizens to get involved with healthcare/socialized medicine? Haven't you heard, the US Government has failed in most of its private endeavors like Amtrack and the Postal Service? Did they expect us to roll over and play dead? It is not going to happen.

Refusing to do a job in this economic climate? Sure, in private enterprise you're gone, but not so for federal employees. It's a cold hard fact, government employees are virtually untouchable.

>Looting the US Treasury with no hope in sight, is bad for the morale of the taxpayers.

Shutting down the US government because you didn't get your way is even worse.

Nope. There is a point you don't spend more than you bring in. Even a bubble gum chewing 18 year old bank teller knows she will be gone at the end of the day if her books don't balance.

Unless she's a Republican. Then she can just refuse to do her job and the GOP would tell everyone what a hero she was.

***>Maybe everyone isn't the same as you.

They're definitely not (fortunately!) but the basic sentiments are pretty common:

October 1, 2013 - American Voters Reject GOP Shutdown Strategy 3-1, Quinnipiac University National Poll Finds; Dems Up 9 Points In 2014 Congressional Races
PDF format

American voters oppose 72 - 22 percent Congress shutting down the federal government to block implementation of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.

Voters also oppose 64 - 27 percent blocking an increase in the nation's debt ceiling as a way to stop Obamacare, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds.
===============

Which Voters?

All the people that I have discussed this with, save my GF, are for it.

http://www.quinnipiac.edu/institutes-and-centers/polling-institute/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=1958

"From September 23 - 29, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,497 registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 2.5 percentage points. Live interviewers call land lines and cell phones.

The Quinnipiac University Poll, directed by Douglas Schwartz, Ph.D., conducts public opinion surveys in Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Iowa, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Virginia and the nation as a public service and for research. "

"Republicans support the federal government shutdown by a narrow 49 - 44 percent margin, but opposition is 90 - 6 percent among Democrats and 74 - 19 percent among independent voters. "

Even the righties are BARELY with you.

just ETA: your gf sounds cool, if you ever really piss her off by making a big scene over a toasted ravioli or cheese stick you order that she eats, and she dumps you, give her my DZ.com name.

What if your boyfriend read this post? Don't you think he'd be upset that you're two-timing him? You better lock your computer at night!

The BEST part is hearing the absurd statements about the shutdown made by GOP members of the Congress:

“We’re not going to be disrespected,” Rep. Marlin Stutzman of Indiana told the Washington Examiner. “We have to get something out of this. And I don’t know what that even is.”

“This is not just about Obamacare anymore,” Rep. Michael Grimm, (R) Staten Island, N.Y.

“We’re very excited. It’s exactly what we wanted, and we got it.” Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota

“It’s wonderful,” said Rep. John Abney Culberson of Texas.

“I will credit my father, he invented -- this wasn't for the restaurant, but he did it anyway -- green eggs and ham." Sen. Ted Cruz, during his filibuster.

“It’s a little bit like the World Wrestling Federation. It’s wrestling matches where … the outcome is pre-rigged, the outcome is predetermined. They know who’s going to win and it’s all for show.” Sen. Ted Cruz

“Twenty years from now if there is some obscure trivial pursuits question, I am confident I will be the answer.” Sen. Ted Cruz

and of course we cant alow the truth to alter public perceptions. Like, did you hear about the military base gocery store being closed but, since this is where Obama golfs, the course is open?

Don't forget to call Republicans anarchists and terrorists. Seems that's standard operating procedure for your ilk these days.

Not terrorists. But anarchists; if you say so I have to agree.

I see some irony in your post.

"It's much easier to be a hapless victim than to actually do something about it."

Sounds an awful lot like the welfare folk wouldn't you agree?

The welfare folk are mostly comprised of liberals wouldn't you agree? Seems hypocritical to call conservatives the victims.

I agree!!!

Just yesterday we had one of the biggest liberals on this site, Ron, complain about how his friend's welfare cheque wouldn't really cover her costs anymore and was blaming Obama for it.

Obama is Republican right?

I think you are lacking in knowledge. I do believe that you don't understand what the difference between something that you pay into and something that is given to you.

But then that doesn't surprise me.

Interesting.

So, that cheque she gets is from the money she paid previously?

Or is her money long gone and is the cheque she gets financed by those paying into it now?

In socialist Canada we give it to CPP, who then actually invest the money and more or less have to live by the rules governing Pension Funds to ensure adequate reserves are kept.

How does that work in the US? You guys must have a significantly better system than us commie socialists.

Nope - the politicians stole it. Used it for their own lobbyist's wallets and "stimulus" . . . one of the reasons government should be smaller.

Oh, I do - and he is no different from you. Any GOPer deserves his entitlements, anyone else doesn't. You are both quite predictable.

I take that as a complement. Gopers? They view entitlements as temporary financial help, and not a life long dependence on the US Government. This is in contrast to moochers who have been on the take as a normal way of life for generations.
