Show Your True Colors At Last: Cindy Sheehan, COMMUNIST

Meh. Communism. Are we still worried about that? It just seem so. . .retro.

Seems so pathetic-hipster, 1960s, out-of-touch, Abbie Hoffman to me as well. Fortunately, people like her have been thoroughly discredited, and communism (at least in the West) lies on the ash heap of history where it belongs.

Unfortunately, there are still a lot of idiots like her in academia, pumping that nonsense into the heads of spoiled, illiterate youth.

Oh, gosh - shades of the Cold War, when calling someone a commie was akin to branding Hester Prynne with the Scarlet A.

Most Americans wouldn't know a gen-yoo-ine communist if they tripped over one. I seriously doubt you're an exception.

And as the poster #2 said, who fucking cares, anyway? Retro, indeed.

ETA: Ooh, socialism. Brrr.. Sounds like ....blasphemy. Or witchcraft. Thrown her in the lake. See if she floats.

For as much as McCarthy was a freaky paranoided headcase, that doesn't mean he was entirely wrong, either, as born out by documents and interviews from both sides after the cold war "ended."

Just because you're paranoid that doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

but he still remains an UnAmerican as his committee name. Being 10% right doesn't justify the actions he took, in self promotion, or the damage done to the country.

When? Which enemies?

She said her son died "for nothing."

Dear Barbara,

On April 04, 2004, your oldest child killed my oldest child, Casey Austin Sheehan.

A lie

After the meeting[with President Bush), Patrick said, "We have a lot of respect for the office of the president, and I have a new respect for him because he was sincere and he didn't have to take the time to meet with us."

Cindy added, "I now know he's sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis, I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith."

Yet she is most remembered for saying the GWB would not meet with ther.

You know. Her son. Other grieving parents who have lost loved ones. They become enemies of the US - even communists - when they say things that are politically unpopular.

Ah, yes. . .shelter building type threats.

I'll go get a shovel. Who knows how dangerous opinionated grieving mothers can get these days.

More than politically unpopular. Way to avoid addressing any of my earlier post.

>More than politically unpopular.

Nope, just politically unpopular. She's saying things that right wingers don't like, and so the "support the troops! support their families!" thing goes out the window instantly.

The strength of your convictions is not proven when you support the in crowd. It is demonstrated when you do what you believe in even when the person in question is disagreeable to you.

Perhaps a review by the usual suspects of a very smart man who was talking about someone who would fit in quite weel in todays fringe right wing.

From Wiki

His primary achievement has been in confusing the public mind, as between the internal and the external threats of Communism. We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men. [...]

We proclaim ourselves, as indeed we are, the defenders of freedom, wherever it continues to exist in the world, but we cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home. The actions of the junior Senator from Wisconsin have caused alarm and dismay amongst our allies abroad, and given considerable comfort to our enemies. And whose fault is that? Not really his. He didn't create this situation of fear; he merely exploited it—and rather successfully.

>SO where is that conviction from the left?

I don't know; I don't speak for them.

>The war was terrible when GWB was running it. I guess it's OK now that
>your hero is in control.

Nope. He's not my hero - and the war still sucks. One of the few good things he's done while in office is end the war in Iraq. If he can get the remainder of US troops out of Iraq and end the war in Afghanistan he will impress me.

But then again, my feelings on war don't change based on whether someone has a D or an R behind their name.

I'm not at all surprised.

You see that cover my daughter is wearing in my avatar? It isn't some dime-store purchase for her to play with. That is a cover worn by those who have for years given blood, sweat and a lot of tears in the persuit of legitimate threats of this Country and have been Selected because of that fact.

It appears that we have differing opinions on what one considers an enemy or threat, or a passing annoyance. I may not agree with what she has to say and she says some dumb crap, but this thread about her is pure bullshit. It is very taxing at times being a Right-Winger with a lot of stupid extremist shit being said when any liberal or other, exercises their rights.
