Yet another nutter with a gun

Recommended Posts

Very funny, he says that all you have to do is hand a 38 to everyone when they get on the plane. Who's gonna stand up in front of a hundred people with 38's and try to hijack a plane. funny, impracticable but a ring of truth truth to it.

Do you think a terrorist who has a belt with explosives on him would be scared of your guns?
Do you think those who flew the planes into WTC would scared and land the plane back in JFK if the full plane was armed?
This is not even funny.

Somali is an example of anarchy. If America ever get as bad as Somali, then it too would be a living hell.

But that's a perfect libertarian world where the government has pretty much zero control over your life! You probably won't even get penalized for not paying taxes there, and of course nobody restricts your guns. Following the pro-gun logic such place should be extremely polite and self-policing with almost zero crime, right?

Are they supposed to justify the 120 or so gun homicides that have taken place over the same time period?

Would you prefer that number be 130?

I'd prefer that nutters couldn't get guns so easily.

So, when are you going to perfect that 'future crime' machine so that you know who's going to flip out at some point in the future?

Could you tell me which definition of "Libertarian state" doesn't it match?

First off Somali does not have a government. At least not one that resembles anything we in our Western culture are used to. Secondly besides anarchy, the only thing that is prevalent in Somali is their belief in Islam. Tell me ... what does a Libertarian and a devote Muslim have in common? Nada ... nothing ...

Once again you are all alone out there in Left field trying to compare these Virginia murders with Somali.

120 gun homicides? Wonder how many of those would have turned out differently had the victim been carrying a firearm for self defense.

And JFK would be still alive if only his guards had guns, right? Oh wait...

What in the world does JFK have to do with what we are talking about?

If you were a customer at Brown's Chicken in Palatine, IL when the bad stuff happened...would you feel better or worse if you had a weapon/firearm on your person and you were being escorted to the freezer area?

Just asking...

I have a carry permit - I'm legally allowed to carry a firearm concealed. How is this hurting you?

I've never drawn my weapon on anyone...I've never used it in a crime...I've never brandished it openly...I've never menaced anyone. But I do know this, I'm not going to go into the freezer in Brown's Chicken to be executed- nor is anyone else who is with me.

And before anyone starts arguing that these things don't really happen...tell that to the victims in the McDonald's shooting in San Ysidro (James Huberty killed 21 people that day).

You don't want to own or carry a firearm? Fine...that is your choice - but I certainly hope you never find yoruself crying to God to save you when something really really bad goes down and you find yourself in the freezer - unable to do anything about it but scribble a goodbye note to your loved ones before you get dead.

A perfect Libertarian society would not have the government, as the role of the government is basically to regulate things, which restricts personal freedom. So having no or very weak government basically indicates this is a Libertarian society based on personal choices and responsibilities.

This is incorrect. Religion is a personal choice and personal responsibility, so a Libertarian can be Christian, Muslim, Atheist, Satanist or whoever he wants. If a large group of Libertarians want to be Muslim, this is their right as well. Assuming otherwise would mean that you're for restricting their personal freedoms, which is non-Libertarian.

So far it looks like a close-to-perfect Libertarian society.

.....words that miss the point

I am all for gun ownership. I have many and have/had concealed carry permits in several states.

My issue is with the foolish statement that ANYONE can "tell someone's character" after two days of 'coaching' anyone at anything.

I can kill someone just as easily with a baseball bat as I can with a hand gun.

No you cannot.

Your point may be valid with respect to self defense, but this statement is completely incorrect.

My grandmother was a nationally ranked marks(wo)man. There were few people on the planet I'd rather have with a gun even into her 70s. With a bat she couldn't break a window much less defend herself or her family. Firearms remove physical limitations from the defense(or offense) equation. To suggest otherwise is to ignore reality.

Because you "wonder how many of those would have turned out differently had the victim been carrying a firearm for self defense". I pointed out the most obvious example when this didn't help. Same if one is shot from behind.

I would prefer not to be there when the bad stuff happened.

Unless you lost or let to be stolen any of your guns (therefore supplying criminals with them), it does not. A lot of people, however, is not like you - some of them shot others to solve an argument on parking lots, or because they got fired and have no other perspectives in their lives. Unfortunately the way the life works is that we need to use a single common denominator for everyone - that's why all of us need to submit a lot of documentation with their tax returns even though only few people cheat on taxes. However since this is impossible to force only those who would cheat on taxes to do that, the restriction is placed on everyone. Same with guns.

I do not believe in God, so the crying part is very unlikely.
Regarding the rest, I believe that such probability would be greatly reduced if we significantly restrict gun ownership, and making it impossible for law abiding people who just went crazy for a moment, to do significant damage. It would also make it much harder for criminals to obtain a gun, so for someone who is not a gun owner this indeed has a lot of benefits.

Care to break those down by how many had criminal records or were involved in illegal activity?

And compare those to how many on his list were law abiding citizens that prevented themselves from being injured.

No one wants criminals to have guns... you just don't want citizens to have them either.

And before you try to claim something else... Your posts speak to that conclusion.

Too funny dude ... you are correct, everyone else is wrong. You should be a politician. "George the Russian" feels there should be a world wide ban on all firearms, and that law abiding private citizens should never be allowed to own them, only the police should ever be allowed to be armed. Then everyone will live happily ever after in La La World. That is until the police come knocking at your door in the middle of the night telling you that you don't live there anymore. Of course you say this would never happen in your Utopian society since everyone is so happy at how the state takes care of them ... but history tells you that, well you were sleeping during history class. There is no shortage of times throughout history when the strong preyed on the weak. Given a choice between living in the anarchy conditions of Somali versus when Stalin preyed on the ethnic communities of Russia, or when Hitler preyed on the Jews/Gypsies or when Pol Pot preyed on the helpless people of Cambodia, etc, etc, etc ... I will take Somali's armed anarchy any day over being a helpless "soon to be dead" victim. :P

You are dreaming if you think you will rid the world of firearms.

You obviously ran out of arguments as you started attacking the poster instead of the post. That's really scary that so many of you pro-gun guys are only capable to have a civilized discussion during such short time.

Yet another ex-law-abiding gun owner turning crazy.

This, of course, would never happen if carrying guns was legal in Texas!

Incorrect, like most of your surmises. Like the schools and other disarmed victim zones, legal carry holders can't practice their right, there.

I am sorry, you are the one who insists on comparing the incident behind this thread with the lawlessness in Somalia. If you had never made that comparison, I never would have jumped into this thread. I do NOT support the fool behind this thread who took 8 lives in Virginia.

It is ludicrous to compare the anarchy in Somalia with gun crimes in the USA. :P

Are you saying that legal carry holders can't practice their right outside the Capitol building in TX???

A state senator called for toughened security at the state Capitol on Thursday after a man fired several shots outside the center of state government before being quickly subdued by state troopers.

No one was injured,

What's the problem here? No one hurt, guy was quickly subdued. That's pretty much a good outcome.
