JackC 0 #101 March 29, 2009 QuoteI appreciate your substantive stance. Ptolemy's equant was no more proof of his theory than a tree is proof of the theory that goddidit. I would have expected that a lawyer would know what constitutes proof and what doesn't. Assuming you do know the difference, then the only alternative is that you must be willfully misrepresenting the facts. That may be an acceptable (yet dishonerable) trait for a lawyer, it is not acceptable in science.

philh 0 #103 March 30, 2009 Physicists are considering reworking our theories of gravity so that they dony need to invoke dark matter. You should look up scalar tensor vector gravity . The problem is these alternative theories have to prove themselves before one cannot do away with dark matter as the explantion for the rotation of galaxies. You do physics a disservice to think they are so naieve as to have not thought of this .
lawrocket 3 #104 March 30, 2009 I'm pretty sure that phycisists have thought of these things. We don't hear much about it for good reason - they are new theories without proof. As an aside, I've looked more into my Big Bang criticisms and have shot my ideas way full of holes. It's pretty convincing... My wife is hotter than your wife.
