Judge chastises officer for wearing poppy into courtroom

Recommended Posts

Apparently wearing a poppy on a public uniform in a courtroom is offensive. While the judge did not order the cop to take it off she did give him a stern talking to in front of the courtroom for wearing it and strongly suggested that he refrains from doing so in the future lest he offend someone.

I honestly am not trying to chest thump here but is this not a bit much? The cop was not forcing everyone to wear a poppy. No one was being force fed Remembrance Day. I fail to see why the judge would say this.

Am I wrong for being a bit put off by this?

(Yes I do realize this was an isolated incedent)

There you go, proof that those judges have a perverted view of the meaning of the Poppy. It's not to glorify the wars but to remember those that gave freely of the lives. 2 completely different concepts altogether and so called inteligent, educated people, like judges, should know better.>:(

Put off by this? A little. But I've seen worse. I actually have seen a LOT worse.

There's a federal judge in Los Angeles. I made the mistake of saying, "Thank you, your Honor." Apparently, he does not like to be thanked for doing his job.

And there's another judge in Fresno County in front of whom I will never appear again. I am not alone in this respect...

When the Mennonites, Hutterites and Dukabors came to Canada it was understood that they would not be responsible for defending our country during wars. I am OK with this, but by the same token their opinion of those who do carries exactly no weight with me. The poppy is not a political symbol at all. Her Majesty's representative, Her Excellence Madam Jean wears one. Her Majesty herself wears one. The judge is wrong.

Naah. I'd prefer not to finger a megalomaniacal sociopath.

I don't understand how some of the judges we have are on the bench. Some of the most irrational decisions handed down are beyond comprehension. Chastising a police officer for wearing a poppy, as a symbol of rememberance of those who have given their lives so that judge could even be on the bench is plain NUTS! Geeeeze!

I wear a VFW tie tack on my uniform, so far no negqative commnents, although I've had a couple people ask me what it is. When I answer they usally thank me for my service, it's nice to live in a (somewhat) red state. Some of our other guys where tie tacks with what branch of service they were in, again no complaints (yet).
