Yeah, you were out of line making it a 'brown' issue.

When folks on the 'other side' got nothing else... zing! Here comes the race card! :D:D:D

I've already made it crystal clear, in this and other threads, that I'm not playing the race card - quite the opposite, in fact - I'm calling BS on those who use the context of the immigration issue as cover to make remarks that have as much to do with their own cultural xenophobia as they do with the migrants' illegality.

And I'm not the only one in these forums who has made that observation - one of whom is a particularly pale-faced Legal Immigrant who probably scoffs at native-born Americans referring to their native language as "English".

I've also made it clear that I won't be deterred just because a couple people dismissively mischaracterize my point by labeling it "the race card". Doing that is not a rebuttal; it's an absence of rebuttal.

Just like some of us don't like the inferrance we are racists. Your friend is damned sure right about our 'bastardized' form of English. Ya' know, this is kinda like beatin' your head on a wall... it feels good when you quit. Later...

>STOP all public funded programs for anyone not a legal
>resident - examples school,welfare,hospital etc.

You can do that for school and welfare, but not hospitals. No US hospital is ever going to let a little girl die in the street because no one can find her ID. Which means they will treat any emergent case that comes through their doors (which is how it should be.)

>stop the free bees and they will deport themselves

What about the ones that work?

Take the taxes that are owed out of the pay before they receive any funds and reinstate harsh penalties for employers of illegals. Mandatory jail time. I have to submit certified payroll for any employee that works under this company. So should everyone else.
I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama

This thread has been primarily about 'illegal immigrants'. What so many folks don't hear about is, the problems we have on our border, especially the Texas/Mexico border with the drug cartels. Ranchers along our border finding bodies on their land, Laredo, Texas losing 60 - 70 people... all kidnapped and nothing gets done about it. Sheriff departments asking for help from our government and getting none. Our government giving new helicopters to Mexico to fight the drug cartels and the cartels wound-up with them. Shoot-outs with Mexican troops and Hudspeth County, Tx. Deputies... on this side of the border! Our media doesn't tell these stories. People are really in the dark on what is really going on along our Southwest border. It's nuts!

So take the taxes that the working illegals DON'T pay and are sending back to their families, and put it toward a more intensive border patrol.

Fine - address my rebuttal questioning the idiocy of comparing Mexico City to London or Paris for quality of life. (hell, find any basis by which Mexico City is the superior city)

You got nothing.

In the other thread about Home Depot, you mentioned a movie that is out about what is really going on along our southwest border. Well, I checked it out and things are a lot worse than I imagined! I've been watching Glenn Beck also and he has presented some information about our border that'll scare the crap out of anyone! We've got a government and a president that would love nothing more than to have one big country, comprised of Mexico and the U.S.!
I saw a news report recently on a local T.V. station showing Laredo, Texas as the 'Baghdad' of our border! Drug cartels holding all-out 'war' so as to gain control of Laredo and the drug and human transportation into middle America. They have the fire-power, also. AK's, 50-cal.'s... you name it. 60 - 70 American citizens, kidnapped in Laredo and taken to Mexico and nothing is done about it yet, 1 American girl is 'missing' in Aruba and that story gets world coverage.
Armed Mexican troops (or look alikes) are escorting drug shipments across our border and nothing is done about it. One T.V. station in El Paso, Texas, has tried to cover what is going on along our border and was quickly silenced. The problem isn't just along the Texas border, it's along our entire southwest border. We aren't getting the whole story! We really need to wake-up! Thanks John, for pointing this out!

I didn't know much about it, so I Googled the story. Just from the several stories I read, it seems that most if not all of those people were kidnapped on the Mexican side of the border, in Nuevo Laredo and its environs south of the Rio Grande. I'm curious to know more facts. But yet, obviously it affects quality of life along the US side of the border.

My point. Look at her name. Very English. Look at her picture. Very blonde. Then compare it to the names of most of the kidnap victims in Mexico. Dios mio.

Shhh. They all look alike.

Laredo, Texas is connected by a bridge to Mexico. The population of Laredo is 90% of Mexican descent. Folks cross quite freely back and forth. These are American citizens, who shop in Mexico, eat meals there, as in the case of two missing girls, they crossed into Mexico to attend a concert and have not been seen since! The Sheriff in Laredo, has recieved reports that the two girls were 'given' to the drug cartel in Mexico. Our government won't do anything about it. The U.S. congressman who represents the Laredo area, 'denies' anything is wrong.
Your point about those kidnapped American citizens is quite valid.
In regard to the 'look alike' Mexican troops, oddly enough, in Falfurias, Texas, 65mi. North of the Rio Grand, a Mexican military ID was found on a farmers land. He has reported 'activity' across his land and nothing is done. Mexican military vehicles have been reported fueling their vehicles at a border truck stop... on this side of the border!
They all look alike? That's what they say about us!:D Seriously, we do have a real problem with our border.

They only give out Green Stamps on this side of the border.

Since 'green stamps' were done away with years ago, it was probably the free steak knives! My point is, this type of activity is happening, it's real and nothing is being done about it.

Not to throw a spanner in the works here ;) But are not all white americans in some form illegal immigrants? The one thing the mexican immigrants have is they are native to the continental americas, unlike the western immigrants.

Food for thought

On the flip side, it's much like the current situation is South Africa with the large and steady increase of illegal immigrants, from southern and central africa moving down for prosperity and economic freedom. The sad fact is these illegal immigrants will work harder for cheaper and longer than the citizens of the country would, thus the people who offer these jobs see a market value for their services. The only way to curb this is through tough and controllable fines, and sentences for those who do the employing.

Immigrants are people who have moved from one country to another during thier lifetime. I suspect most white americans were born here.

No, and I am not sure how you read that from my statement. Can you please clarify where I stated or implied that?

I'm still trying to figure out what he meant by that, where he read that in my post or where he is going with it.

I was verifying that you thought children born to illegal immigrants inside the US are not illegal immigrants. I mean, they didn't move from one country to another in their lifetime, right?

I would have expected most people would have read into what I meant by the statement, but to clarify it for you what I was trying to articulate was that most existing americans were born here to citizen parents. Granted I have no real source for this but I would confidently suggest that most were not born here to illegal immigrants, nor were there parents I suspect. By all means let me know if I am wrong on that.

To answer your question, no I do not think someone birthed here by illegal immigrant parents should be granted citizenship. That is simply a cheap back door approach to getting into the country by less than honest meens. I am no more fond of that idea than I am of the idea of "amnesties".

People who come here illegally should be sent home.

Bill - Never made an assumption, rather I was trying to point out that "white" americans are in part more immigrant than those who have ancestral roots in the americas, such as native americans, mexicans etc

Hope that makes sense.
