Deuce 1 #1 February 2, 2007 Where's the cheapest online ammo? I really like Fiocchi for target and I need to buy some more silvertip. Anyone? JP
DrewEckhardt 0 #2 February 2, 2007 I like www.ammoman.com. While not necessarily least expensive, selection and service are good.
JohnRich 4 #3 February 2, 2007 QuoteWhere's the cheapest online ammo? I really like Fiocchi for target and I need to buy some more silvertip. What caliber? What kind of bullet? Are you particular about the type of cases: brass vs. aluminum? Would military surplus do? Cheap plinking ammo or quality self defense ammo? You haven't provided enough information... Deuce 1 #4 February 2, 2007 High quality practice ammunition, but not match quality. Nothing but .45 FMJ, not plated, practice ammo round nose 230 grain ball, similar to Fiocchi or Federal, American Eagle, etc. Defense would be 230 grain hydra shock. namgrunt 0 #7 February 3, 2007 many studies have shown that 45 acp hollow point rounds rarely expand due to low velocity. but at 230 gr. who cares ball works great its ALL bullet placement NOT trick bullet's having actually shot humans with both 45acp and 357 mag ..I carry 357mag and prefeer 110 grn jhp however COR BON in 45 will expand but it is much faster than 900fps ball speed remember hand guns are last resort ,rifle or shotguns are for real work 308 or 12ga. ..59 YEARS,OVERWEIGHT,BALDIND,X-GRUNT LAST MIL. Deuce 1 #9 February 3, 2007 Grunt, I'm a retired cop and graduate of the Gunsite ATP. Thanks, though. I went with Sportsmansguide.com cause they had Sellier and Bellot ammo, and I've gone through several cases of that stuff at Gunsite. I like it about the same as Fiocchi, but cheaper. Good prices, and they had the hydra shock, too. As to expansion, thet's why I shoot .45. If it expands, it's a bonus. If it doesn't, it's still like shoving a piece of rebar through the target. Cheers!
