God is channeling thru Pat Robertson again

Recommended Posts

This is probably my one time response for 2007.

Pat Robertson is absolutely correct. I told you more than a year ago, a nuclear attack on the USA would come before G.W Bush's second term is over. More and more things point to 2007, and all that is required before it takes place is for G.W.B. to "stand up" and declare the USA a success in the war on terror.

He would have to say something like " we have the Taliban on the run, and have hanged Hussien, so we have done what we set out to do."

That could possibly come in the State of the Union address on Jan 23rd, but I think it more likely to be something he will do later in the year.

You can rant all you like.....its just around the corner,

Its an absolute certainty , a twin nuke attack on the USA will definitely take place, and GWB will never finish his 2nd term. He will be your last President, for the USA will cease to exist as a nation.

Beware the Chinese horde, and watch for three other nations to take over your lands with China.

That will only be the beginning of the world's many problems.....as most will come through the actions of the "little horn" known as Kim Jong Il.

The American people are being mislead by the administration, and the country will never be prepared for whats coming.

Have a Hppy New Year.........if you can.

In the places where the Bible admonishes the rich, I think it would apply to all of us.

Compared to most of the world throughout most of human history, we are all very rich.

Quote

"Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.'" Matthew 19:23-24

People often quote this bit here, unfortunately they omit the "punchline" of the message, which comes a few verses later.

If you just quote that bit, you'd basically just conclude that rich people are screwed. It's what Christ says later that's the punchline.

.

"The first shall be last" bit?

Here is the whole thing:

Quote

The Rich Young Man
17As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. "Good teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
18"Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good—except God alone. 19You know the commandments: 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.'[d]"

20"Teacher," he declared, "all these I have kept since I was a boy."

21Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

22At this the man's face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.

23Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!"

24The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, "Children, how hard it is[e] to enter the kingdom of God! 25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

26The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, "Who then can be saved?"

27Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."

28Peter said to him, "We have left everything to follow you!"

29"I tell you the truth," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life. 31But many who are first will be last, and the last first."

I put in bold the punchline I was talking about.

The problem with being rich is not that there's anything sinful about just possessing money.

It's that the rich tend to be so insulated from strife that they think they've got everything under control. In other words, because the rich young man has all his life been able to get anything he wants, he also thinks he can get himself into heaven.

He can't. Only God can.

The disciples, who aren't expecially rich, ask Jesus "But then who can be saved?" Because they realize that just because you're not a millionaire doesn't mean you aren't in the same boat as this rich young man. In fact, I would say most people in modern developed countries today are in the same boat as the rich young man. We're all pretty rich, and it can make you believe that you don't need God anymore.

There was a comedian who once said that all the dollar bills have the phrase "In God We Trust," on them, until you get up to the $50,000 bill & higher. On those bills it says "I'll take it from here, God!"

And it all boils down to being a terrorist of you are a muslim, and a cheat if you are a jew ...
Your generalization is pathetic

What's pathetic is your attempt to swing the discussion to one of race/culture because that's a place where only subjectivity can reign, objectivity and intellect can't play there. That's messed up, IMO.

Said it before...the problem lies not with the faith, but the faithful.
I have a healthy respect for anyone that lives by any rote and ritual so long as they're not trying to cram it down my throat.
I have a healthy respect for Christians that are like super porn-freaks addicts. Keep it in the privacy of your home where it offends no one, and we're all happier and society functions better.
If this forum is any indicator as a microcosm of society, it's no wonder we're at war, and will likely be at war for a long, long time.
I think that's called "Self-fulfilling prophecy."

Especially all those ignorant doctors and scientists.

Of course, if the same poll is taken in Russia, the percentage will be remarkably smaller. Also, the Chinese scientists.

A poll that has it population loaded at the start, isn't really statistically significant.

The Hmong hill tribesman still believe in Animism.
They believe that rocks and trees have spirits, just like the Druids did. However, they are viewed as primitive and their beliefs are viewed as mythology. No one polls the primitives.

No one is racing out to say, "Hey, I believe in Jaquar spirits like the Amazon Indians."

God spoke to me today as well, I have those kinds of powers, plus we're tight like that, me and god. He told me to warn you guys that at the exact time of a date following my posting this message there will be a car accident at an exact location that I know. That location is exactly East of the West coast in the United states, to narrow it down further(even though he asked me not to give up too much) I'll go as far as to let you guys know it will also be West of the East coast. So if you are at that exact location at that exact time, I'm sorry but your time has come. And when I'm right, I expect you all to follow my teachings. Now go my children, the Flying Spaghetti Monster has spoken:P

Way to miss the point. your previous post was all about mocking the intellect and reasoning abilities of Christians. All I did was show that two groups (doctors and scientists), who are thought to have superior intelligence and reasoning abilities, are mostly religious and believe in a higher power.

Doesn't quite jibe with the "Christians are just a bunch of superstitious, ignorant sheep" stereotype many on this board are so fond of.

Don't confuse the set of "doctors and scientists who believe in a higher power" with the set of Christians.

Also, I'll assume you meant medical practitioners when you wrote "doctors".

Ooh, you're a big fibber. :P That would also include doctors of theology. And who the hell cares if someone with a Ph.D. in Classical Literature or Theater and Dance is a theist?

You meant doctors of medicine. I see it in your thoughts.

My wife is an OB/GYN Physician and her faith definitely influences her medical practice. She's the smartest person I know.

"All I did was show..."

I didn't miss your point at all. You used selective (incorrect population selection) statistics to find a group. Then, you used the logical fallacy of argument by domination - The idea that since someone "smart" believes, then we must all (like sheep) follow their beliefs.

The problem that you run into, is that I can easily find someone "smarter" and then, using your reasoning, you'd have to agree with me.

A survey of 50,000 Chinese doctors in a predominantly Buddhist area will rebut your skewed statistics with some just as flawed.

However since you are quoting scientists, let's use the National Science Foundation (US gov).
Quote

Concerns have been raised, especially in the science community, about widespread belief in paranormal phenomena. Scientists (and others) have observed that people who believe in the existence of paranormal phenomena may have trouble distinguishing fantasy from reality. Their beliefs may indicate an absence of critical thinking skills necessary not only for informed decisionmaking in the voting booth and in other civic venues (for example, jury duty[38] ), but also for making wise choices needed for day-to-day living.

I don't really see a stereotype here because the posting group seems numerically balanced, although polar opposites in belief. I do consider this a personal view though.

I view any worship of supernatural beings, astrology, ESP, superpowers, and such to be astounding.

So, how do you tell the difference between a prophet and a whackjob?

A prophet is a fictional entity, a whackjob is anyone who believes they are a fictional entity.

A prophet is a whackjob that hasn't been exposed yet.
Seriously...how is it that guys like Swaggert, Robertson, etc get into these positions? Because they say agreeable things. They get enough of a following, they start to venture farther out on the branch. Eventually the branch snaps, and they go from seer to basket case. But the basic tenet that fueled their rise to "stardom" remains the same.
I believe that's known as "false idolatry."

Covering your embarassment at being caught in a lie by attacking me as a nazi? I'm amazed you'd dare show your avatar in this thread again, but you did and stooped even lower.

Unless... could it be you don't know what a physician is? I'll tell you what you can choose.

Dumb or mendacious, which is it? No editing after you decide what you you were thinking this time though.

Will both of you shut up and then go off somewhere and grow up? This has devolved from an intelligent discussion into an unintelligent discussion into something that can no longer even be considered a discussion. Go get some fresh air or something.
