Skyrad 0 #1 December 29, 2006 I found this on the Westbough Baptist Curch website. Its bloody unbelievable. Where the hell are sniper teams when you need them? http://www.godhatesamerica.com/ghfmir/fliers/Picket_Information.htmlWhen an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Gawain 0 #2 December 29, 2006 You're just now hearing about them over there? There is a bunch of bikers (Patriotguard.org??) who counterprotest these weirdos by positioning their bikes between them and the services. As much as they sicken me, they need to continue their rants and protests, as the first amendement assures that everyone will see how f**k*d up and cruel these people are. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! matthewcline 0 #3 December 29, 2006 That family of wacko's has been doing this crap for a while. They came here not to long ago and when they saw the huge mass of supporters for the soldiers they cut the size of their protest down, removed all the men (figuring the women and CHILDREN they made stand in the rain would not be harmed, we didn't want to harm any one just protest back) then they left 2 hours before their block time was over. I agree they have a right to free speach and think they should be allowed to use it, but at the Former POTUS's wake? These people are an abomination to that which they claim to be devine in! I have spent some time on the web sight and it is nothing but pure hatred, thinly disguised as religion. Sad family all in all. MattAn Instructors first concern is student safety. Gawain 0 #6 December 29, 2006 QuoteOK, but parying that more US Soldiers are killed and publishing what they do on godhatesamerica.com how is that not treason? Because they aren't actively involved in trying to harm US forces or interests. They're only willing to stick their necks out far enough to make a ruckus. They're a disgusting lot and this is where it is absolutely imperative that everyone can see, unhindered, how out of touch these people are.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! nerdgirl 0 #10 December 29, 2006 QuoteOK, but parying that more US Soldiers are killed and publishing what they do on godhatesamerica.com how is that not treason? In not any small part, it is because the self-identified Christian group targets homosexuals. And in their twisted mindsets, US soldiers, sailors, airmen & marines -- whether gay, lesbian or not -- are somehow complicit in their perceived aggrievances against God (along with just about everyone else who dies whether from the Space Shuttle explosion or Hurricane Katrina). Their homepage also links to "godhatesfags.com." The Westboro Baptist Church also consider marrying a divorced woman (e.g., Betty Ford) to be adultery. That behavior along with “reach(ing) out to gays and lesbians ad call for their inclusion in the GOP” led the group to conclude that “Ford is to blame in large part for making America--Land of the Sodomite Damned.” Others who have been targeted by the Westboro Baptist Church include: “Pope John Paul II, the Great Pedophile Pope, is in hell” and Pres. Ronald Reagan: www.godhatesamerica.com/html/Reagan.html Marg Act as if everything you do matters, while laughing at yourself for thinking anything you do matters. Andy9o8 0 #13 December 29, 2006 QuoteOK, but parying that more US Soldiers are killed and publishing what they do on godhatesamerica.com how is that not treason? Let's put it this way: it does not fall within the American definition of treason. What you're describing is really slander against the state, which not only is not a criminal act in the US, it is deemed constitutionally-protected speech. For something to constitute treason under American law, there would have to be an affirmative act - something more than the expression of an opinon (even if stated in a vile manner) - to actually attempt to harm the nation's security or overthrow the government, such as a deliberate act of espionage on behalf of a foreign nation. The US is far from perfect, to be sure, but (with the exception of pornography laws) it probably has the broadest legal protections of freedom of speech and expression in the world.
