How bout this crazy thought? If you have a child, MONITOR WHAT THEY ARE SEEING WHEN SURFING THE NET.

That's a crazy idea. That would require parents to take care of their own children, shouldn't that be the government's respondsibility. After all, the government knows best.

So now that the economy's stagnating, the war in Iraq is a disaster, and Social Security "reform" has failed (thank God), Bush is resorting to the old standby of attacking porn.

I thought the Republicans were about government staying OUT of people's lives. Oh well, I've been wrong before....

No... It's the VILLAGE'S responsibility!

That means if one person's kid commits a crime, it's not the kid's fault, it's not the parent's fault, it's ALL OF OUR FAULT.

I dunno about you, but I just love to be blamed for stuff I didn't do. >:(

Is there never going to be proof of a growing, prospering economy that will satisfy you?

I guess things like industry measures and the stock market index don't matter, even when they break records. :S

When the economy sucks and bullshit chicanery shows a "surplus" and it's a Democrat administration, the left says that the economy's booming.

When economic indicators say that the economy is humming right along, and it's a Republican administration, the left suddenly disavows that traditional methods of showing that the economy is doing well are worth anything at all.

Seems to me that creates quite a credibility problem.

unemployment, the issue most important to Democrats, tends to be a trailing indicator.

I can say for my own experience, this year is much better than last year, which was way better than the 3 years prior. So yeah, things are better now.

Reagan did this sort of routine in 1984 too, btw. Economy continued sliding after Carter left until 1982, then came back up to the same level Reagan started with during his reelection.

It's nice to see the curve going up, but then again, at best we been treading water. Is that good, or the least we should expect?

All I know is, it seems very very unlikely that mankind can or will ever construct an economy that does not have ups, downs, and segments that are always gonna struggle.

To continue to gripe and gripe and gripe about The Economy as though pretending there is some magical something that the government should do to "make it all okay" is just asinine.

It's not in the hands of government, or any group or groups of people to make world economics (or even national economics) just pan out wonderfully. Someone's always gonna be rich. Someone's always gonna be poor. I get a laugh thinking about the people who are always bitching -- as though somehow, someone's going to stumble on the One Solution that will somehow make everyone on earth suddenly prosperous all at the same time!

Life is going to go on as it always has -- with everyone just muddling along, doing what they can to make a decent, comfortable life for themselves. Just like some planets will never get the chance to sprout life because a star explodes and subsumes them, some lives just aren't gonna enjoy happiness and prosperity. Is there a Natural Law that says they all must?

This thread is about sex, porn and personal freedoms. It is not about economic theory. How dare you try to hi-jack a thread on sex?;)

The republicans would easily get my vote if they would just stay the fuck out of my bedroom, my house and my personal affairs. Unfortunately for the USA, they can't.

BTW: Free people build strong economies. Oppressed people build strong corporations.

Do you Yahoo?

I knew there was a good reason not to. Porn aside, giving any government that much information on what people are interested in makes it very easy for them to use this information to further their own quest for power.

While I fail to understand why anyone needs to use Google to find porn (enough seems to arrive by spam-mail), we should strongly resist the government's attempts to access this information.

History shows that governments cannot be trusted not to abuse information about the people.

I concur!

Tell your representative they have lost your support or they have streangthened your desire to see them jobless next election, if they do not stop "wrong laws" and the wrong application of "right laws" .

My Representative just sent me a "letter" asking my support with funds. Won't his little staffer be suprised when he gets my "letter" but no money instead.
