Slave Reparations

Since there are no more former slaves around, though, there's really no one to pay.

Can't we just give it to Jesse Jackson?

I'm sure he wouldn't mind. Just for grins, I did a Google search on Toyota and Jesse Jackson and found that Toyota even has disclaimers on their website about the shakedown that Jesse Jackson did on them. For your entertainment, here it is:

Diversity at Toyota: News Releases

Toyota statement regarding reaction to Toyota's 21st Century Diversity strategy:

While a number of media outlets have characterized Toyota's diversity strategy as some kind of deal with Reverend Jesse Jackson and his Rainbow/PUSH organization, nothing could be further from the truth. There are three prevalent myths regarding Toyota's 21st Century Diversity Strategy:

Myth #1: Toyota's diversity strategy was a deal with Reverend Jesse Jackson to avoid a boycott.

FACT: Reverend Jackson questioned our level of commitment to diversity leading Toyota to take a fresh look at its initiatives. The company decided it could do better and wrote its own plan which far exceeded anyone's expectations. Although Reverend Jackson endorsed Toyota's plan, the company was prepared to implement it regardless of his views. The plan document is publicly available for review at www.toyota.com, and is clearly not an agreement or covenant with Reverend Jackson.

Myth #2: Money from Toyota's 21st Century Diversity Strategy will go to Rev Jackson and/or his interests.

FACT: No finances from the diversity strategy have been earmarked for Rev Jackson or his organizations. Five percent of procurement spending by Toyota is for minority business enterprises. All of the 10-year, $7.8 billion diversity initiative spending will go to good, qualified minority-owned businesses and suppliers; will help prepare more minorities for dealership management and ownership; and will provide job training for unemployed and underemployed urban youth.

Throughout the years, Toyota and its affiliate companies have made modest and occasional contributions to select Rainbow/Push events and dinners, as we do for a multitude of community organizations. There has been no increase in the support of Rainbow/Push since the announcement of our diversity program.

Myth #3: Minority suppliers seeking to do business with Toyota must go through Reverend Jackson or the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition.

FACT: No one needs to go through Rev Jackson or the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition to do business with Toyota, nor is Toyota seeking RPC approval of its minority suppliers. Any supplier who meets Toyota's high standards and wants to do business with the company can contact Toyota directly.

Our strategic diversity plan was developed by Toyota for Toyota as a business strategy to assure the company's future success.

Enjoy.

Walt

I have ancestors who died because of the Holocaust, I want every German to send me a dollar, that can be my reparations,

By the way, I want to now be referred to as Polish American...

Did you really have members of your family who died in the Holocaust, or are you jokingly refering to that and the subsequent reparations as a similar type of movement to slave reparations in the US?

How about this as an idea: Agree to provide reparations for their great great grand-pappy's capture and slavery. Reparations are meant to put the injured party back in the position they were in before you screwed up; so simply agree to take them and all other descendants of great great grand-pappy back to Africa where he was captured and leave them there. As a good will gesture they can even have 40 acres and a mule as well. Of course they only get 1 mule to share between all of the descendants; after all they all have equal title to grand-pappy's payout.

Prove that I have ever owned a slave and I'll gladly pony up.
Was it a terrible chapter of human history? Of course.
Are there any former slaves or slave owners these days? Probably not.
Non issue.

My child is my slave, he'd have you believe...lol. Heavens, don't let him read this thread.

I don't agree with shipping anyone back since they are American citizens....However I do like the idea of one mule and 40 acres for the *entire line of desendants*...

Thats just funny.

Well the whole post was a joke and not meant to be taken seriously... but the 1 chunk of land and 1 mule split between every one of the descendants would be how it ought to work if reparations were to be paid… or possibly simply to the nearest/eldest relative with everyone else losing out.

It works all the time like that in the broader civil law. Say I ran over your dad and your dad subsequently dies for unrelated reasons. So long the executor of his estate has the right authority it would be possible to continue to sue me for your father's personal injuries arising out of the time I ran him over.

Your fathers estate gets one lot of damages though... not one lot per person who expects a payout from the estate. The damages are for the person who was harmed and there's only one of them. The fact that it then gets passed down the line to beneficiaries in just the same way as gramma's box of jewelry is irrelevant as far as the payout is concerned.

But wait, my great great great grandfather died fighting to free the slaves..........

and being a tax payer I have to kick in for the mule and land??

That doesn't seem fair.

and although this whole thread is a "joke" we have all seen this over and over again.....

ask for a trillion settle for a billion.:P

hey I have a butcher friend, he might donate a few mules, as far as the land goes, I hear there selling stars now for 19.99 on Tv, hell forget 40 acers just buy them stars, that way they can take their mule and their racist bodys out of here and live off of slave reparations, after all its easier to play a victim then to use your mind to think of ways to help society. I am sick of people playing the slave card. Unless they were a slave that is. Or are one now, those of you who feel victimized should come to my house, I could use some help with the laundry...

I must give it to the African-Americans tho, they were less damaged than the American Indian, yet they have built an empire of benefits that surpass the latter.

But the injuns finally got theirs............ they are slowly buying back america by all the money we donate to there casino's on a daily basis.........
I just am................
