TomAiello 25 #101 August 26, 2004 QuoteQuoteMost American schoolchildren would probably tell you that WWI was a military response to a political assassination. Which would be an incomplete answer as well. It was really about class war fare, the dying of monarchies and the influence of the bolsheviks that led to the assasination. Well, sure. I wouldn't expect an average school child to give a real in depth answer, analyzing all the factors. I was just saying that in general, American schools do teach about the events leading to the outbreak of WWI, and that they don't teach that it was "all the Germans fault."-- Tom Aiello [email protected] SnakeRiverBASE.com
christelsabine 1 #102 August 26, 2004 *** I was just saying that in general, American schools do teach about the events leading to the outbreak of WWI, and that they don't teach that it was "all the Germans fault." Pls don't get me wrong: I said "it seemed....". But, in fact this is not important. Much more important is to know. What do our children know? And in this special case, it's just referring to Austrian soldiers discovered in a glacier. Besides the history: It must be highly interesting to have a view on those bodies, do read what they "tell" us: there is so much to learn. Who started WW1 really is not interesting in this discovery.
