Yes, that would be it...

It's been all over the news... (this tape)
The trouble with skydiving; If you stink at it and continue to jump, you'll die. If you're good at it and continue to jump, you'll see a lot of friends die...

Actually you can't kill any terrorists with this weapon. You have to find terrorists to use this weapon, and even then they will probably be in an urban setting in which case you probably couldn't avoid collateral damage with this weapon. But hey, it looks neat.

anyone know the range of the footage? I am guessing that would make it more impressive.

I am only guessing, but considering that you don't hear the boom a full 20 seconds after impact, 25 miles?

As for a size reference. If you enlarge the picture, you can notice "treetop" shapes in the foreground, so you're seeing an explosion several hundred yards in area. Also, to me, it looked like a ground burst. An air burst at say 500-800 feet would have made a larger concussion affect...

I can't watch the video from here but with that info it makes it......a little over 4 miles. IIRC...sound travels at 330 meters per second. My math makes 6600 meters which is a bit over 4 miles. However.....I am severely mathmatically handicapped. :D

Yeah, about 322m/sec or 1055ft/sec. Four + miles would be correct. It is over 20 seconds with no concussion.

how fun would it be to hang on to one of those pallets as its launched

Have you seen Slim Whitman at the end of the movie "Dr. Strangelove"?
People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

The bomb was designed for Airburst

Big BLU will be GPS guided and feature cobalt-alloy penetrator bomb body that enables it to penetrate to depths of up to 100 feet below the surface before detonating.

Yeah, about 322m

Heheheee...I learned that while training to shoot Army artillery. I guess they round it to 330 for Army guys...:D

It depends on the atmospheric pressure, humidity etc...

The number I remember is 340 m/s.

Vera Lynn - from WWII. Also used in "The Wall" (Pink Floyd).

We're talking about the MOAB, not the big BLU

Phree - it probably still functioned as designed. "Airburst" can (and usually does) mean just a few feet off the ground.
it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
