I posted this in swooping, but I thought yall in here should see it (since a lot of you may not go to that forum).

Getting this sort of e-mail from people who are new to the internet is one thing (the first time I saw this sort of e-mail was in 1994), but from an organization that is supposed to be a professional organization...bad form.

I posted in the Swooping forum since this is where PST qualified pilots will most likely see it, as well as the PST folks. Hopefully those on the list that got the e-mail, will voice their disgust as I did, so that this sort of SPAM won't happen again.

Yup, e-mailed them.

I had to vent, and I was also hoping that others on the list would e-mail them too, after seeing my post (if they wouldn't on their own).

it is my guest that their mailer got his with a virus and sent it out. Dave, posting the "whole damn thing" seems to be an incredible waste of bandwidth.
. Personally, if I were so bent about it I wuold just call one of the two numbers listed.

I e-mailed them, I generally e-mail long before I call.

I've seen IT Managers for large roroporations fired over stuff like this, it isn't something that is acceptable in the online business/professional world.

As for a virus sending it out? Not likely. Possible, but very very unlikely.

Alrighty, just got a blanket (read: form letter) response from the PST apologizing for the blantent spam.

Why they have their "information" list setup the way they do, I have no idea. Not a very good way to admin a list like that.

Oh, and it wasn't a virus.

Ok, one more point:

I really like what they've done, combining the two big swoop tours (not that it really matters for me since I'm by no means even close to having the skill to even consider applying be on the tour), it was just very disappointing to see something like this.
