A happy tribute to meat lovers!!!!

Recommended Posts

This is a poem I like to call MEAT

A happy cow was sun bathing in a field
Pop ran up on the bitch and went in for the kill
She mooed and screamed till her time was up
And we had a feast with the meat we cooked up!!!!

Well then, this should confirm your veganism:

If you want to really confirm your tastes, I recommend *The Jungle*, but Upton Sinclair. It was written circa 1906 and the response by the US Gov was to put into place the first Food and Drug Act.

Chapter 14 is my personal fav.

i read that book, quite disturbing the description of conditions at meat packing plants during that period. since you read the book i bet you now think twice about eatizng canned meat..;)

Errrr.....actually, I still eat meat from a can (albeit rarely). The things that really concern me are in the attachment.

ICK!! I've heard about that book from lots of people. Maybe I'll get it next time I'm at the library. I think my days of steak on the grill will be long gone after that I'm sure. :S

Great book from what I hear.

It's a good read for the shock value of the packing houses, as well as social value - the book was written as a socialist text. Once you get past the graphic descriptions (it's a yo yo kind of story) it becomes a treatise on the beginnings of the Socialist movement in the US. That's OK, but it killed the story for me, reading it almost 100 years after it was written.

Read it if you are at all interested. Just so you know, I had to read two novels during the reading of *The Jungle* so that I could come back and keep my interest!
