wingnut 0 #1 September 30, 2003 okay i'm in the process of buying my parts to build my new computer here's what i was thinking, tell me what you think and what you would build tower case (lots o room) probly a thermaltake case 430watt psu msi mother bord can't remeber the specs athlon xp3000+ 512mb pc2700 ati radion 9600 120gb sata hardrive (x2) striping raid config) and am throwing in my old stuff from my current computer like my dvd-rom, cd-rw and 80gb, 40gb and 14gb hard drives.... p.s. definatly not my dream computer but one i'm planing on building in the next couple of weeks.... wish i had the money for my dream computer.. but that would run me about 3 grand..... mostly decided on these for price versus speed, could go faster but ten it would cost alot more!!!! ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"

kingbunky 3 #8 September 30, 2003 Quote120gb sata hardrive (x2) striping raid config) i might reconsider this bit... true, you get 240GB drive space with very fast access, but if you lose one, the data on the other is useless... if your controller will support it, buy a third and use raid 5. faster access than one drive, slower than striping, you lose the space on one drive ( 360GB raw, 240 GB configured), but if you lose one, you don't lose data!"Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." wingnut 0 #10 September 30, 2003 not really worried about loosing data, cuz the only reason i'd be using the raid is for performance, if not then i'd lose a drive and losse the data anyways..... besides the controler only suports 0,1 and 1+0 ... it's on the mother board...... thanks for the insight though i will keep it in mind... ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
