jrjny 0 #1 August 11, 2010 After about 30 jumps with the analog it seems to be pacing about 1,000 ft behind other analogs and digitals on the ride up and I need to tap it several times to read correctly. I bought it brand new. Today I jumped and while the analog said 5,000 my L&B Solo chirped at 4,000 so I waved off and opened. Should I expect this trend to continue or what? Anything I can do or should I just get a digital wrist-mount? Perhaps this is normal?? Thanks, Jeff
NovaTTT 1 #2 August 11, 2010 Small or minor differences of readings between altimeters is normal. A 1000' is not minor. Contact Alti-2. In my experience, they will do what it takes to make it right."Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." dgskydive 0 #3 August 11, 2010 You might just have a unit that isnt working correctly. Return it and get a new one. My old Alti used to stick on the way up, but worked fine in freefall.Dom
slotperfect 7 #4 August 11, 2010 Your altimeter should not stick or lag at all, climbing or falling. I strongly recommend you don't jump that altimeter any more until you get yours tested in a vacuum chamber. faulknerwn 37 #5 August 11, 2010 All of our rental Galaxy's (8 or so of them ) are consistently 500 feet behind digital ones on the way up and 500 feet behind on the way down. We've had them come back from the factory after repair and the behavior is identical. The Galaxy's all seem to match each other, though curiously enough my old Alti-2 seems to match the digital ones better than the Galaxys. I don't know why but its pretty consistent with that type of altimeter.
AndyMan 7 #6 August 11, 2010 An altimeter that is off by 1000 feet is defective and should be returned to the place of purchase, or sent to the manufacturer for repair. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
