lewmonst 0 #1 April 6, 2004 More evidence that weather holds are dangerous and skydivers are safer in the air. There were two seperate serious knee injuries in the main landing area at Elsinore yesterday (Sunday) during a soccer game. One was most likely a torn ACL and the other was a dislocated and broken patella with torn patellar tendon. The latter of which was unfortunately caused by a collision with my knee, which only sustained a bruise. (I'm sorry!) The brits won the soccer, i mean, futbol, game... take caution on cloudy days! peace lew edit for michellehttp://www.exitshot.com
Michele 1 #2 April 6, 2004 Lew, darling love, you scared me with your title. Sorry for all the injuries...but glad it wasn't worse. Damned dangerous, that football stuff. Should be banned, or at the very least, heavily regulated. I'll never play it. Ever. TheBile 0 #6 April 6, 2004 QuoteDamned dangerous, that football stuff. Should be banned, or at the very least, heavily regulated. I'll never play it. Ever. Don't say that . OK, so proper soccer is a contact sport and people who play it can get injured (I broke my leg back in 2000 playing it), but there are alternative versions. Kick-Ass Soccer used to be a particular favorite in the school grounds. Instead of tackling for the ball you kicked the ass of the guy in possession of the ball. As soon as you scored a direct hit, the guy relinquishes possession to you. If you kick the ass of a guy not in possession, or you missed the ass area altogether then it's classed as a foul and instead of a free kick being awarded there is 10 seconds of 'Open Season' on the fouler. As I'm sure you can understand, this version of soccer encouraged passing of the ball rather than dribbling. It also encouraged a lot of kids to take up Rugby instead. Gerb I stir feelings in others they themselves don't understand. KA'CHOW !

Maxx 1 #8 April 6, 2004 Groundsports are in deed dangerous! I was once on a boogie where 2 Freeflyers got seriously hurt while playing Hackysac. And one couldn't jump for the whole day because of pain in his right leg... On a windy day some other dudes where flying kites and one got his ear nearly cut off, because of the kite-lines.. Stay away from other sporting activities on the dropzone except skydiving. It will only hurt you! Feet up! Max
skyyhi 0 #9 April 6, 2004 Lew, dang girl, haven't the brits been through enough since they have been there. . .take it easy on them okay! Injured instructor, several reserve rides, minor elbow strain (too much beer drinking), etc. . .they are going to need a holiday from their holiday when they return home. By the way, the gang of brits out at Elsinore this weekend were a whole lot of fun. . .great people.________________________________________ Take risks not to escape life… but to prevent life from escaping. ~ A bumper sticker at the DZ FGF #6 Darcy
