Have you finished your Christmas shopping?

Recommended Posts

Vin,
This year has been interesting to say the least with all the major transitions. This Christmas is unique to say the least. Whatever I haven't sold, I've "bartered" with my friends and family for time or services such as cutting my hair or something. My brother and his SO just took my treadmill off my hands (too heavy to move to SE FL). For all that my mom has done for me over the past 8 months, I've given her several pieces of jewelry that she LOVES! As far as the neice and nephews, we've spent awesome quality time together and I've had them go thru my storage unit and pick out something they like and so far, it's worked out really well.

I'm offically employed as of December 20...OMG! That's only about a week away!:)
I've realized thru this transition that precious quality time means so much more than "stuff".

See you MondayB|

I wait until I get home to buy very much. It's too much of a pain in the ass to cart packages through the airport.

Yippee! I am done shopping.

I refuse to step into a Walmart, Target, shopping mall or similar establishment until well after Christmas.

Since I started a new quarter in school last week, I planned on getting the shopping done early this year so I could concentrate on school and not worry about it.

the adults in my family have all agreed to not do the gift thing, except for the kids in the family. My mom's idea (she has always hated shopping).

adults don't need anything that they can't buy themselves, after all, we know what we need to buy better than other people do. Running around in those crowded malls is a PITA, & there's way too much commercialism attached to Christmas anyway.

Instead we donate the money we would have spent to a good charity. There's this organization called the ST. Vincent de Paul society that helps the poor and the homeless that I usually give to.:)
....by the way, I've found when you decide to give to a charity, do a little research on them first. Some charities are just great, but some are poorly administered, such that only a small % of the donated money actually goes to the cause. ( and a few charities are deliberate scams).

Done with decorating the house outside and inside, putting up the tree, Christmas shopping and card sending. Now, all I have to do is wrap things and I'm done. Woohoo!

Not even started shopping yet. Will do so... had meant to yesterday but something came up. Was going to today but something's come up. Will over weekend... unless something comes up. :S

Don't send out cards. I think they're stoopid.

Can't usually be bothered to decorate... although I might be pursuaded to pull the still decorated fake tree out of the loft where it's been since chrimbo 2002/03.... hell it's not like it would be much effort.

I'll be working on Christmas cards this weekend. I had to wait till there was some one other then a family member at the house to take the family picture. As you can see, it's a real zoo around my place.

For the first time in my life I am doing the Xmas card thing. Ok I'm a single guy and it's gay, but when you don't have any family close by (one cousin in NYC) you start to feel more "connected" to the family you left behind. :|

I don't do the letter thing, that 's why I put in a picture. Hell, I can't remember what I did last week, let alone what happened in Jan of this year.
