OK only because no one has mentioned the Dead yet in this thread.

"Bird Song" - Grateful Dead
I heard The Other Ones play this one at Further feast, and I'll admit that it did bring a tear to my eye. I just makes me think about how much I missed by not actually going to a dead show, because I was like well I'm broke now I'll get them the next time around. Then Jerry died. I don't know why this song in particular strikes me as being emotional, but it does.

"I Want You Round" - The Ramones

Man I miss The Ramones :~(

Bush-Glycerine

absolutely

Snow Patrol - Run
Anything by Jeff Buckley, particularly Last Goodbye and Hallelujah
Foo Fighters - Everlong and Aurora
Live - Overcome and Lightning Crashes (maybe cliché but it works to achieve the glazy eyes)

there's plenty more but they're ones off the top of my head

Bush-Glycerine

I don't get it.

Edit. Ok...... I'm showing my age!:$

There is a band called Bush and they wrote a song called Glycerine. Here are the lyrics:

Must be your skin that I'm sinkin in
Must be for real cause now I can feel
and I didn't mind
it's not my kind
not my time to wonder why
everything's gone white
and everything's grey
now your here now you away
I don't want this
remember that
I'll never forget where your at
don't let the days go by
glycerine

I'm never alone
I'm alone all the time
are you at one
or do you lie
we live in a wheel
where everyone steals
but when we rise it's like strawberry fields

If I treated you bad
you bruise my face
couldn't love you more
you got a beautiful taste
don't let the days go by
could have been easier on you
I coudn't change though I wanted to
could have been easier by three
our old friend fear and you and me
glycerine (repeat)
don't let the days go by
glycerine

I needed you more
when we wanted us less
I could not kiss just regress
it might just be
clear simple and plain
that's just fine
that's just one of my names
don't let the days go by
could've been easier on you
glycerine

Gotcha. So it is not GWB concocting some WMD?:P

No, but don't feel too bad. I had similar thoughts when I saw that post.

Well, I have not posted for awhile but had to add my two cents!

John Groban - To Where You Are. I heard it right after my Mom died - when it is my time, it's the song I want played.

Who can say for certain
Maybe you’re still here
I feel you all around me
Your memories so clear

Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You’re still an inspiration
Can it be (? )
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above

Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you’re there
A breath away’s not far
To where you are

Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn’t faith believing
All power can’t be seen

As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
’cause you are mine
Forever love
Watching me from up above

And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave

Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you’re there
A breath away’s not far
To where you are

I know you’re there
A breath away’s not far
To where you are

Also, "Oh Holy Night" just sets me to tears. It is so what Christmas is about.

Aight, since I'm welling up listening to The Final Cut right now...

Pink Floyd - The Gunners Dream

Floating down
Through the clouds
Memories come rushing
Up to meet me now
But in the space between the heavens
And the corner of some foreign field
I had a dream

I had a dream

Goodbye, Max
Goodbye, Ma
After the service, when you're
Walking slowly to the car
And the silver in her hair
Shines in the cold November air
You hear the tolling bell
And touch the silk in your lapel
And as the teardrops rise to meet the
Comfort of the band
You take her frail hand

And hold on to the dream

A place to stay
Enough to eat
Somewhere old heroes shuffle
Safely down the street, where you can
Speak out loud about your doubts and fears,
And what's more
No one ever disappears, you'll never hear their standard issue
Kicking in your door
You can relax
On both sides of the tracks, and maniacs
Don't blow holes
In bandsmen by remote control
And everyone has recourse to the law
And noone kills the children anymore

Noone kills the children anymore

Night after night
Going round and round my brain
His dream
Is driving me insane

In the corner of some foreign field
The gunner sleeps tonight
What's done is done

We cannot just write off his final scene
Take heed of the dream
Take heed

Life by the Drop - Stevie Ray Vaughn

I haven't heard that song in ages, love it though. I only got to see him play live one time... But that song makes me think, Hmm, that's life for you... The guy overcomes a serious alcohol problem, only to get killed in a helicopter crash a few years later.
