labrys 0 #3 January 26, 2006 Gallons are the measure of a volume of liquid. Pounds and KG are measures of weight. You can't convert between them directly.Owned by Remi #?
lovelife22 0 #4 January 26, 2006 Quote1200 gallons of what? That makes a difference. Gallons of hazardous waste...(solvent/acids/etc.) which is why I got confused. I know we need Specific gravity of the chemical but it's the annual total of waste which includes alot?
cesslon 0 #5 January 26, 2006 as far as metric spacing goes 1 200 US gallon = 4 542.49416 litre 4 542 kilograms = 10 013.3959 pound 1 litre of water is 1kg now as far as all the technical stuff of diff liquids I have no idea
LouDiamond 1 #6 January 26, 2006 1 gal of water weighs 8 lbs. Assuming your liquid weighs at least as much as water you can get a ball park figure."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

rehmwa 2 #11 January 26, 2006 QuoteHow do I convert 1200 gallons into pounds (or KG)? I am such an idiot right now! #lbs X 2.2 = KG Look - do this a - take a one gallon container, empty - weigh it on a pounds scale b - fill the container with your "stuff" - weight it on a pounds scale c - Subtract a from b multiply by 1200 if your "stuff/waste" is fairly homogenous, then nothing beats direct measurements instead of looking up specific weights in a book somewhere....... If you really want to go for it, then take a sample of 20 to 30 gallons of the stuff and weigh it all in one gallon units. Then multiply the average of those measurements by 1200. That's more rigorous. It takes into account both variation in your metric as well as variation in weight gallon to gallon. (i.e, it's better than just weighting 20 gallons and multplying by 60) ...
