hobie331 0 #1 June 28, 2007 My wife comes home today from work and asks, "do you know what a fluffer is?" This is a women who was raised in the Holdeman Mennonite church and lived in that lifestyle until she was 29 years old. Since leaving though she has gone on to receive degrees in criminal justice and post grad degrees in sociology. Anyway, what is the safest way to answer such questions in the future. We were eating dinner at the time, so I'm guessing blowing my beverage out my nose probably gave the answer away this time. Evidently were she works(mental health ward at a correctional facility) a higher percentage of men knew than women. It's a gift, I don't try to explain it. Jewels 0 #10 June 28, 2007 My tunnel coach and his wife explained to me what the function of a fluffer is, in a very clinical way, of course. (NO DEMOS. ) There are a lot of terms I had never before imagined out there. . . . All I have to do is book a lot of coached time and by this time next year, I should be bilingual! JENNR8R 0 #11 June 28, 2007 I had to look it up. I just can't imagine what she does to do her job effectively. I imagine it's a precarious balancing act... not too much... not too little... My kids had to explain what a "shocker" was. Everyone at the DZ likes to display that hand signal when photos are taken, but they wouldn't tell me what it meant. Yep, I've had a real education since becoming a skydiver. I've learned things that I never even imagined. What do you call a beautiful, sunny day that comes after two cloudy, rainy ones? -- Monday. Jewels 0 #12 June 28, 2007 Ohhhh, I didn't know there was a hand signal, too. It only came up because they call it "tunnel fluffing" on the rare occasions when the tunnel isn't booked and the instructors get in to fly for the benefit of anyone who might be watching. It made no sense. . . . Anyway, hand signals must be for the advanced class. TPM Sister #
sharimcm 0 #13 June 28, 2007 I didn't know what a fluffer was until I started skydiving. But, a conversation last night led me back to this poll, and I posed the question to the young man I was talking with. I then had to tell him what it was... I answered FEMALE - YES. Zipp0 1 #14 June 28, 2007 I have heard that fluffers are a myth. And being a connoisseur of porn, I have seen lots of 'behind the scenes' footage, and from what I have seen, the male performers are responsible for their own 'fluffing'. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down. Yeah, well, can you imagine my chagrin that I had to learn the meaning from my kids? Actually, I was then able to educate a former member of Airspeed who had never heard of it before either. It's amazing the topics of conversation that come up in a wind tunnel camp break. I learned what a Rodriquez Brother initiation was from a woman who was in that same camp!
