warpedskydiver 0 #26 September 28, 2007 QuoteAfter the war didn't the US take a lot of German scientists to NASA due to their knowledge of rockets/fuels etc? After the war it was a virtual scientist scavenger hunt, the Russians, French and Brits, as well as the USA grabbed as many as they could.

riggerrob 563 #30 September 30, 2007 The jumpers pictured were from a US Army Special Forces group out of Fort Lewis, Washington. They were the first to freefall from V-22 in January 1993 (?) at Edwards Air Force Base, in the Mojave Desert of California. Those same test jumpers spent their weekends skydiving at California City Skydive Center. Static-line testing came later.
usedtajump 1 #31 September 30, 2007 Saw this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LTV_XC-142 at the LTV plant at Dallas Naval Air Station in about 1964. It was hovering about 20 feet off the ground for about 45 minutes due to the fact that they couldn't extend the landing gear. Finally landed it very gingerly on the belly with no injuries and little damage. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
