help me: how to tell my wife

Recommended Posts

well if it's OUR savings.... then I can't spend it,,,,,

If it's YOUR savings and YOU spend it for a nice gift, you're the hero
if it's HER savings and YOu spend it for a gift, you're the goat...

three rules in a marriage

1. NEVER NEVER Tap the 'savings accout'
2. Always have MUltiple accounts,, including a slush fund account,,,
3. keep LOTS of money in the slush fund, for just such purposes as gift giving,,,,For each other...

PS.. was the "gift" a 60 inch HDTV??????

good luck.. just hope she's happy with the gift.

You don't have to tell her.
Usually my motto is

"I can only keep my expenses hidden as long as the bank can"

Meaning.. don't say anything, let her look at the bank account and find out for herself.

well that is why I changed the password. she has to go to an atm, or a bank to find out. hahaha.

yeah, but she doesn't come on all that much

To help you out, I am sending a copy of your post to CNN Lifestyle... it's been a slow news day, so they might call you to follow-up on the story... after that, just leave the house and leave the set on CNN or wait until your friends who watch CNN start calling your house....

You spent the savings FOR her gift or you spent the savings ON her gift?

There's a HUGE difference.
How did you spent the money?

Edit to clarify:
FOR her gift.
I.E. you had a gift chosen but you blew the money on something else.

ON her gift.
You saved for a long time so you could get this special thing for her.

Tell her best friend how romantic the gift was, and how you care so deeply for your wife, that you felt that spending an exhorbitant amount of money could only fail in the light of how great your love for her is, and then, let the best friend go to work.

Me? I'd have just bought guns.

Oh wait, I did.........

But, at least my wife is well-armed!

(And I got a nice, 9mm stocking stuffer for myself! Helps with the assholes out there. You know, the ones that like to threaten your family....)

You COULD always take it back for a refund and get something sensible - and nice. Then she really doesn't ever have to know. unless you bought a stack of jump tickets. They're non-refundable.

A stack of jump tickets is NOT a GIFT... it's an INVESTMENT ! :)

Have you thought about what you are going to do if she purchased your xmas gift with using that money to pay it off, you know counting on that money being in there? Just a thought! Things could get really interesting then!-Caress
I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being
right.
