futuredivot 0 #3 March 9, 2009 yeah, I thought of saying something about an explosion raising the pressure but despite my reputation-I do try to avoid comments that might end in a body cavity searchYou are only as strong as the prey you devour
topdocker 0 #4 March 9, 2009 Are they charging for the masks yet? "In the event of a sudden change in cabin pressure, the oxygen masks will deploy after you place five dollars in the appropriate slot. Place the five dollars in your slot, before placing the money in the slots for those you are traveling with. Correct change is required." Maybe they could make it twenty, after all, you'll really want that mask! topJump more, post less!
ntrprnr 0 #5 March 9, 2009 They also hate it, as you're prepping to land at LGA, when you say "Can you just drop me off right near the Hudson, I'll swim home?"_______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" SARLDO 0 #6 March 9, 2009 I remember being on a military aircraft over the Med at about 26K when "POP - Whoosh"... No more air. Pilot came on the PA wearing a mask and says "well, in case you didn't notice, we lost pressure but are going to hold off on the masks and dive for 10K to figure it out (we were in a very steep dive)... hold on, we have a problem here... (as dive continues)" Uh, what? Turns out the pilot meant to brodcast that last part to our dash-2 on the VHF but said it over PA. I never saw so many "Oh-shit-were-gonna-die" faces at once before. Fun stuff... "Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest" ~Samuel Clemens MB#4300 Dudeist Skydiver #

That would have to be one fast increase in cabin pressure to set off an AAD.I think they say "change" instead of "drop" so as to only use happy words, and not scare the white-knucklers any more than they already are. Muenkel 0 #14 March 10, 2009 Quote 1-I've noticed that flight attendants now tell you about the oxy masks in case of a "sudden change in pressure" instead of a "sudden drop in pressure" I've heard that when you're onboard the flight attendants also remind you not to inhale or exhale as that would also cause a sudden change in pressure. _________________________________________ Chris
