There's a tram up to the top of Sandia Peak too. There's a restaurant/bar at the top.
There are great motorcycle runs out there, but this time of year it's probably not an option.
Watching the river from the bridges is cool too.
IIRC, Sandia Labs has a mini- display area open to the public that shows what type of work is done there - at least the unclassified work.
Kirtland AFB might have something open to the public too.

What about open to the military? Any ideas?

I'm here for weapons training and will be here for 2 weeks for 2 different courses, but the courses have long hours so I'm pretty much limited to about 2 or 3 days to explore.

Kirtland AFB isn't too big of an attraction for me since I'll be working there for the next 2 weeks. What does Sandia Labs consist of? I'm not familiar with that name.

Well, been here a week and a half. Last Saturday, I got a chance to go see the Trinity Test Site. Not much there, but then again, didn't expect to see much at the site of a nuclear detonation.

I did get to see and hold some trinitite, and so far, I haven't grown any extra appendages and I don't yet glow in the dark.

Haven't gone out much, but I did hit up a restaurant called Tucanos. GREAT FOOD! It's an expensive meal, but it's all you can eat and well worth the money spent.

At the course I'm going to, they have a complete museum containing every nuclear weapon we've ever had in our inventory. Pretty amazing how far we've come in our technology.

Last week, we had a older gentleman come speak to us that was at the 1968 Thule, Greenland accident. Lots of photos and lots of knowledge.

Tomorrow, we should get a chance to talk to a gentleman who was involved in the Manhattan Project.

Loses it's glassy coloration pretty quickly. It oxidizes kinda like silver does, but faster. There's quite a bit still out there, but you gotta look pretty hard to find it. Most pieces are smaller than a marble. It being a national landmark, it's illegal to take the trinitite.

The informtion theorized includes assumptions of billions of years. Myself being of a religious nature, I don't believe in all that mumbo jumbo.
