Jumpsuite Question.....

Recommended Posts

It's about time to wash my jumpsuite, and I can't figure out for the life of me how to go about this. The problem is my RW suite contains rubber on the back of the grippers, leather on the booties, nylon front, and spandex back. Talking to the local dry cleaners I discovered that with the Rubber, I will only be able to have it cleaned with Non-Pertrolium based solvents, but when I had it cleaned with the Old-fashioned stuff, the Non-petrol solvents left the rubbers stiff and ridgid, and is just now beginning to bend again. I know that with with the Leather on the Booties, I can't just throw it in the Machine, and it's covered in that Nasty Texas-Mud and Jet A - really grosss.....

Can anybody please help me with this??? :)

Edited for spelling, nothing more...

Here we wash them with normal stuff in the machine... even with leather, spandex etc...
I would recommend to put it in a pillowcase to wash, so the spandex doesn't get worn out by any abrasive object in the machine

I have a Tony RW suit. I just put it in the washing machine with cold water and a mild detergent like Cheer. When it's done I even put it in the dryer for about 20 minutes on a low setting. Hang it up for a day or two to let the grippers fully dry. I've been washing it like this several times a month for over a year - never had a problem.

What they ALL said!

Thrown in the washer on low temp with gentle powder stuff. (Tony suit) even the white bits come up a treat. Hang to dry.

The leather booties get a but stiff initially but soften up the first time you wear them.B|

Switch to freeflying so you don't have gripper/bootie problems ;).

If that don't work, try what the others said & good luck. Might also want to make sure the water is on cold.

There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear.

I wash mine in the washing machine, cold water, easy on the detergent. I make sure all of the zippers are zipped so they don't get damaged, and remove everything from the pockets. I hang it to dry - NEVER putting it in the dryer. I pre-treat stains with Shout before throwing it in the washer.

Another note - if you spray your new jumpsuits with red cap Scotch Guard, continuously shaking the can during the process, they will stay cleaner, and come cleaner when you wash them. Use three coats, allowing the suit to dry overnight in between.

Check with the manufacturer of your jumpsuit too, since they will have the hot tip on specific materials.
