It's really just semantic, so it's not very important, but I tend to use the "classic" definitions of either (a) geometry: a straight vertical line (which means smoke stacks are A's) or (b) wind: the wind blows through it. Of the two I prefer the wind explanations, since I think wind is more relevant to the actual jumping. dantheman 0 #56 December 11, 2005 I try not to get too caught up in the 'classification of objects' debate; to me they are all basejumps. At an early stage of my base career someone (can't even remember who) stated that you could only class the object as an A if it had guy wires. I adhere to that school of thought for the reason that avoiding the wires singles this object out from the others; you have to consider wind speed and direction, your exit point, delay, canopy control, dealing with off heading openings. I have jumped many freestanders and pylons and can fully appreciate the argument for calling them A's, but for me -no. I posted on the British base board a while back under the title 'to B or not to B,' asking the same question about B's. Some people call gastowers, cooling towers, chimnies, cranes on top of buildings, silos B's. Personally, i like to keep things simple; if you jumped a dam ( for example) and called it a B, would you jump a building and call it a dam? Laters. DTM. PS. Last night/early this morning i jumped objects 102 and 103, a chimney and a building- that's an O, and a B, not an A and a B, or 2B's. Like i said previously 'me, me, me, me, me...' sabre210 0 #68 December 13, 2006 Stats for anyone who likes stats are: B's - 21 A's - 19 S's - 16 E's - 18 O's -30 inc 4 dams, 3 chimneys, 8 cranes, 6 power towers, 3 gasometers, 2 monuments and 4others total 104 from 294 jumps since Sep 2002 highest - Italian Terminal Wall, lowest 140ft A,S,B Longest Canopy ride - ITW a few mins, shortest 2secs No Aerials, No unpacked jumps, no wingsuits. Would like to in the future though. 2 broken legs, many scars. Time out due to injury 4months. 1 object strike, a few tree landings, a few water landings 2 dead friends, several busts, no fines or cell time. I still have a ways to go for 100 but just for the hell of it here are mine: B's - 2 A's - 27 S's - 4 E's - 13 O's -2 inc 1 crane, 1 Monopole total 48 from 271 jumps since May 2004 total freefall 8 minutes 30 seconds day 81 night 190 highest - 1500ft A, lowest 180ft Monopole Longest Canopy ride - Monkey Lips maybe a minute, lowest - don't know maybe 5 seconds A few gainers, A few unpacked jumps, no wingsuits. Would like to in the future though. 1 sprained shoulder, 1 sprained ankle. Time out due to injury a few days. 0 object strikes, 1 tree landing (see sprained shoulder), a 1 water landing 0 dead friends, 0 busts but close a couple times, no fines or cell time.
