phoenixlpr 0 #4 January 28, 2004 Ive started jumping with RS4/A. Its a round East German military canopy. It was simple and cheap, but a pain for packing.
riggerrob 558 #5 January 28, 2004 Civilian riggers and pilots can legally work with most military surplus parachutes as long as they are maintained to military standards.
phoenixlpr 0 #6 January 28, 2004 You mean manufacturer`s standards. In the Hungaian army a paratrooper is/was trained and allowed to pack a BE-8, thats the belly mounted reserve for RS4/A, but not in the sport.....

riggerrob 558 #9 January 29, 2004 QuoteYou mean manufacturer`s standards. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hee! Hee! Now we get into the finer points of manuals. If the equipment was only sold to the military, then - chances are - the only manual is military. For example, a number of years ago I was asked to repack a parachute for a military surplus jet. It was easy to find the USAF manual for the canopy and container. However, when I asked FXC (the manufacturer) for a manual on the AAD, they referred me to the USAF manual. Fortunately, a friend who worked at Edwards Air Force Base was able to photo-copy the USAF manual on the AAD for me.
