  1. You're right old fart, what you do is dangerous and you are still not an over the hill rotting POS.
  2. Does anyone care what you think is safe or not safe? Stats can be compared and you can qualify anything however you want, safe or unsafe. Some never understand because they are stupid and/or senile.
  3. Why don't you go ask the CDC (which is gov't) and then get back to me. They may or may not keep stats but they do report them. There is a difference. In any case, do you have a point? If you have stats that contradict the gov't stats, go ahead and post them.
  4. I can understand articles being copyrighted but the OP is about the DZ database, that's not copyrighted or copyrightable or is it?
  5. Or, to borrow an idea from an unrelated forum, have the 1st post be a wiki. Kind of like integrating the incident database with the forum. OP or mod can update the wiki with references to posts. Wiki can have a standard format of type of malfunction, equipment, etc. Downvoting to be collapsible or faded fonts is also helpful in general, not just for incidents.
  6. Hey old fart, what good is a qualified rigger if he's in the air during the day? But plenty of places have no qualified riggers either during the day. In other words, you're full of shit. Over 5 because it's an easier concept for the brain dead like yourself than an exact number that you may or may not still be able to count o. So yes, for you, it sounds better. Why bother with facts? Enuff said, doesn't matter for Alzheimer's patients like yourself. If you're just going to trash talk, at least make it halfway amusing. lol yea it's a funny discussion that I just sit back and enjoy with popcorn. Especially during Olympic years like now, and later on with curling. I think there was an effort to get chess into the Olympics. They failed but there is a Chess Olympiad.
  7. Hey old fart, early is relative. If you want to throw your age rather than experience around, go back to your assisted living quarters. See why your USPA bandwagon attempt is so pathetic? No facts to dispute facts. I have enough experience to have jumped in over 5 countries so I call bs on your post. I've been to many dz's with 0 full time riggers. Get some refills on your meds.
  8. "sport" is debatable. The release forms and mfg labels call it an activity.
  9. On a side note, I think the warnings get too overboard. It comes off as chest beating. According to gov't stats, skydiving is safer than football, canoeing, hiking, and other more common activities, none of which come with such dire warnings. http://www.besthealthdegrees.com/health-risks/ Advanced stuff like base (1 in 60), swooping, sure, warn of imminent danger. But tandem and vanilla fun jumping are slightly safer than going to a dance party. The warnings should correspond accordingly.
  10. If you can tell, then you can tell. The question for yourself is can you tell. Packing is a PITA to learn but not rocket science and you should complete the quote regarding direct supervision. As it is, there isn't a violation. There is rarely more than 1 rigger at a dropzone and you won't find any supervising pack jobs all day. Sounds like the USPA troll Ed Scott has done his job well. All that means is that this particular place didn't pay a racketeering charge to the USPA. They could've paid the fee and called themselves a "USPA dropzone". The sole benefit would be that you can't say "isn't a USPA dropzone". So think from the owner's perspective if that's worth it. It is to some, not to others. The rigger passed requirements tests to become a rigger; he did a lot more than read the manual. I doubt any place does drug tests. For drug tests, you'd likely have to train in a military freefall course. Ask the jumpers who rent gear how their openings are. Ask how many cutaways they've had with rental gear recently. You may not understand much of the responses but the gist you're looking for is whether they're happy with the pack jobs.
  11. This is akin to passing the info to a mod to post, but better. Good idea.
  12. Gear section: - in addition to rig components, add altimeters, audible, helmet, maybe suit. - Maybe a little stick figure with positions to show where they're mounted - expire that info in a year or two to get updated info - have updates easy to do, like a popup when people log in - can apply the same expiration/update to the jump #s.
  13. The other new entry Alter mentioned it uses the same Bosch sensor (newer version) as the L&B's. This one probably does too since the sensor itself is
  14. Tried Altidroid, it missed a jump. Could be my 2016-model phone, could be the app, but either way the system isn't as reliable as dedicated devices yet. Numbers were up to a couple hundred feet different from Viso but I can't say which one is more accurate.
  15. How much was shipping to the US? I like the leg strap. Does it stay put without being too tight & cutting off circulation?
  16. Downsizing 1 step is around 3-5mph faster. I didn't notice a difference. While it's not a bad idea to play it safe, I would go 170 without hesitation in your situation. I'd wait till a day with docile winds, that's about it. The label on a canopy says something like X number of jumps with good landings on a canopy Y% bigger before downsizing. I bet if you plug in those numbers from a 170, it'll work out fine. Regardless, 1 step is practically negligible in good weather, especially while you're still below 1.0WL.
  17. $99 for up to 4 days? You must be doubling the tourism rate to MO for that duration ;)
  18. Thanks for tapping out but there's another place to post your Hillary stuff. So Scott is not the worst out there, that's great, and irrelevant. It is not a matter of opinion that USPA does not enforce, and therefore the guy lied, as did you. You are welcome to your own delusions, sure. Debating this point reveals this thread as a special ed class. Accordingly, it seems little is accomplished beyond keeping the students distracted from more destructive activities outside class. Here's a spoiler for this apparently trick question: they aren't.
  19. Yes the guy did an awesome job lying to the public, good enough for jail. I don't think many of us knew what his job description was though until now. In honor of the good job he did, the USPA can adopt a new logo: https://imgflip.com/i/19641b Nice misdirection but people can also not renew or not join. Obviously. You have intermittent literacy. That's why I helped you answer the questions you missed.
  20. It seems Nigel has missed a few questions as he posts so I'll try my best to fill it in. Feel free to correct me, nigel. Nigel: No/I am just a troll pulling your legs. Nigel: ba ba ba ba it doesn't. It would be disingenuous for the USPA itself to say anything other than "we do not enforce any standards; membership means we got paid". For Ed Scott to use that reporter the way he did is simply racketeering. I believe that is a crime and thus firing him should be the least of his worries if the law means anything. No way I'm renewing my membership with this clown in office; the fact that I can jump without doing so at a USPA GM shows what GM means, along with all the other unenforced regulations.
  21. I was considering the Atlas but decided that at that price point, it should have what was suggested above as well as: - touch screen UI with the latest Gorrilla glass - bluetooth connectivity to phones and other devices - free .csv exporting of data - USB-C - kinetic recharge Thank you VERY much for considering feedback!
  22. Wouldn't it be cool to have an electronic ear pro version for skydiving. Looking at you Howard Leight.
  23. What kind of helmet are you using? The ear coverage isn't enough without earplugs? I've settled on Volume 1 with some tape, good enough without earplugs.
