The state can require that the opprotunity to say the pledge is presented, but the supreme court ruled that no one can be forced to participate.... Was raised Jehovah's Witness as a kid so I'm familiar with the arguments.

I have not lived in orlando since 2008 and If things have changed I hope not to offend anyone, but it's a marginal area. There are schools nearby so it's a younger area. I don't know anything about the complex, but I'm sure there are reviews online. Pine Hills and Kissimee are generally to be avoided.

Am I correct in assuming that the consensus is that while more opportunities does not mean more Mr. Rights there is a positive correlation between number or opportunities and number of Mr. Rights? Kind of like saying, while having money cannot buy happiness it can present more opportunities to pursue activities (formula 1 car racing, world travel at 5 star resorts, etc., etc.) that could lead to ones happiness.

On behalf of all the "uglies" I'm going to have to say that this is the exact kind of theory that one would expect from a "pretty". ...Shah (I'm a little suprised) has been spot on several times in this post. I agree - I've been surprised by many of Shah's comments in this thread! But I don't think I fall in the "beautiful" category. Nor would I describe myself as an "ugly".. Those two are extremes for the sake of argument, and I am very much in the "average". Baaaa haa haa ha ha.... Ok.

Personal opinion is that the one posted is the better of the two. I can more easily see the one posted being in an add campaign...with the goggle strap photoshoped out of course.

Great thread. Just a little over a month ago I was the tandem and I was freaked out on the load up. There's not much that can offend me, but I appreciate the focus on professionalism as I would like to see all (or almost all) of the tandems go on to get their A license. Now that I don't have the same kind of "nerves" as I had my first hand full of jumps I try to offers words of encouragement to the tandems if it looks like are nervous. I've thought about incorporating jokes...that's why I read the thread. Should the same rules regarding decorum apply to fun jumpers? For instance, I like the ferrari joke and I think it would go over well with many tandems, but I would not want to piss off a TI.

haha so true. I just sold a bunch of thing on eBay to afford a jumpsuit. It may come to selling my truck just to buy a rig Better move to the DZ, or having a rig aint gonna be good for shit. I could always pitch a tent in the DZ and feed off small children ;) Ha. Selling possessions for jump tickets. Check. Considering selling car for rig. Check. Pitching a tent at the DZ. Check. God...I'm so screwed.

If you look around different threads on DZ.com you will see this advice many times.... Don't get your info from the DZ.com. You may be able to pick up some vernacular and learn some theory, etc., but all the stuff that "really matters" is going to come from your instructors, the other experienced skydivers at your home DZ and your own personal experiences. I would guess that it's pretty natural to feel out of place as a new commer into the sport, but do you self a favor and just focus on what brought you in...skydiving. All that being said, there are some pearls of wisdom is this thread regarding estate planning, discussions with loved ones...keeping loved ones from discovering the sekeltons in your closet, etc. Welcome to the sport.

That's nice of you to say... I had "the burps" the whole way up and went straight back to bed after I got back down (budwiser...ehhhh) The jump woke me up...the rain did for sure. It took a couple seconds before I could process what was hitting me in the face. What do I owe beer for...Let me count the ways: 1. I got cleared for self-supervison last weekend...Beer. 2. Riggers willing to spend time showing me how to pack....Beer. 3. The 208-B for the first time...beer? Saw my first glory yesterday...probably beer. I'm starting to think that everything = beer. It may be in my best interest to have "uneventful" weekends when asked. LOL
