  4. I used the search feature and I came up with several discussions about this back in 2007 and prior and some discussions in another language, but as you know conditions can change over time sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. So here's to hopefully getting some updated info: I am heading to Eloy for a week middle of Febuary and am looking at the lodging options. could someone tell me the plus/minuses of the each of the following: Bunkhouse, Team room, Skyrider Inn or other hotel. Basically I'm looking at experiences regarding cleanliness, value for the costs, quietness after the party is over, room for movability, etc. Also, I called the shuttle service listed on Skydive AZ's website and it looks like they are much cheaper than renting a car. any opinions why someone would want a car instead of just taking the shuttle? I see they have a resterant (I know I cant spell) onsite, so this should be good to go. any other in town eateries should I know about? Okay here's a little different question. Last time I flew to a DZ I only stayed a couple days so I really was carrying mostly my rig stuff and 2 pairs of clothes. this trip I'm staying longer plus the temp change is estimated between 75 and 40 degrees; how in the heck do you pack for such a trip kwowing that you have to have warm and cool clothes, skydiving gear, personal hygiene, possibly linens etc. Lastly, and most importantly who else will be there to hang, fly and party with week of Feb 16-20th? I appreciate any helpful advice. THRIVING IN MY DASH!!
  5. Sorry I never met this person and I assumed. My bad! BTW he did respond to me and this is what I learned: There are nothing wrong with the AltiTrack, the LCD is just showing a different window then we show. Please note that this AltiTrack is one of the first versions where you can’t offset it negative (to the left). If you look at a new AltiTrack you can see that the inner scale also is to the left. 6. Yeah I saw that thread and I knew there was a difference in the analog face based on symmetrical and assymmetrical; it was the digital underside I was wondering about. However, thanks so much for the advice; I have an email out to Mads currently and I sent her photos so she can clarify if it was just they way he had his settings or if it was an earlier model. Thanks everyone for the info! THRIVING IN MY DASH!!
  7. Curious were there a previous version of altitrack or are there only the military and standard? I know per unit you can switch between meters and US, but wondering more specifically if there was a previous version? the reason I ask is I am looking at purchasing a used one. It has a black casing and the face looks like one advertised on L&B, but the the pic of the digital display looks a little different (less info than what I see on the L&B site); it could be simply the way the previous own set his settings, but just wanted to make sure before I click pay for item. I tried to upload the photos, but they are too big and I am a techincal idiot and dont know how to reduce their file size. L&B doesnt show there was a previous version, but doing one last check in the community to make sure. THRIVING IN MY DASH!!
  8. Just talked to Aerodyne and the rumor is true. Anyone with an Icon with skyhook must send it in for modification. THRIVING IN MY DASH!!

  14. Another inside view.. I served 8 years with 3 separate deployments. When I first went in during normal field exercises, since our team was only about 10-12 ppl, it was just more reasonable to set up one tent for the whole team; guys and gals alike. We even had one guy that liked to sleep nude. Nobody took offense or tried to jump his bones and we had some VERY straight girls in our squad and he was a good looking guy guy..a little dim witted, but still pretty built. in regards to deployments; on each deployment I went on there were several gay males and females that shared tents with same sex gender and there wasn't any issues. However, on one deployment to Bosnia we definately had the red light district going on with one female that had a revolving cot of males that came in dropped cash and hopped out....very annoying and gross to listen to while you are trying to sleep. Basically, there has always been gays in the military and there will there be an incident or two that will be blown out of proportion by the media, but in every segmented group there are things that happen, but it doesnt mean the whole group acts a certain way. Its like saying this guy is color blind; therefore, all guys are color blind. If you can't control your hormones, this is not a hetero or homosexual thing; its a maturity thing. And to reiterate the shower deal, most military showers are not the best in the world to be in ..they are quite rugged , just enough to get clean. Its definately not a place I would want to hang out in or feel someone up in. Wasnt this same discussion our country had when we started intermingling blacks in all white units? have we not learned from our own history? My experience on deployments is that "relations" happen most often in the wood bunkers; I cant count how many condoms that straight ppl left about in those things...another thing that was not fun to deal with when clean up detail occured. When coming home from a long deployment and everyone is getting hugs from their hetero partners and families it really hurts when a homosexual person has to have a handshake in fear of getting found out by the wrong person. As I stated in my earlier post a lot of soldiers know who's gay and who's straight and as long at the COC is cool with you then normally you dont have any issues, but if they dont like you the DADT policy actually encourages discrimination. This is a good thing for the military to strengthen it; if you segregate any group then a group cannot become a team. If everyone is an individual then the team cannot be successful in the joint mission of protecting our country! THRIVING IN MY DASH!!
  15. Jumping for Fun (JFF)- Lebanon, KY http://jumpingforfunky.com/index.html Small DZ with a 182, but good atmosphere. Grass strip with large landing area. THRIVING IN MY DASH!!
  16. You assume that there havent been and aren't any current gays in the military. Showering, sharing tents, etc. doesnt mean people cannot and have not been adults enough to act accordingly. Just because you are straight doesnt mean if you share a tent that anything will happen either. None of this matters as long as the person does their job which is to protect our country. One other thing actually repealing DADT actually helps the military in several ways. 1. Stops the good ole boy system. I knew several gays in the service; the way it worked was this: If your chain of command liked you (not in that way) then they let you be who you were, but if the COC didn't then they would section 15 you in a heartbeat. So this will stop this good ole boy system. 2. Soldiers trying to get out of deployment cannot use the "gay for a day" excuse in order to avoid fulfilling their contractual commitments that we as tax paying citizen pay them for. 3. Currently, enlistment is severely down. We need soldiers to protect us. Lifting this program opens a larger pool of available citizens to serve. THRIVING IN MY DASH!!
  17. I got a 20' telescoping flag pole. * i know i just opened a really large barndoor by admitting this* Anywho, its one of the best gifts ever, just have to wait for the temp to rise just a little before I can concrete it in the ground. Oh and my work truck, named Casper..cause its a little white truck, got a really cool license plate with his name on it with a picture of casper the flying ghost with a parachute on his back with my canopy colors! How cool is that? I know I'm cheesy but why not its the holidays THRIVING IN MY DASH!!
  18. I agree!...the smell is atrocious, but hand cleaning after going to long is DISGUSTING, like pulling bacon grease from a pan that sat for years! However, from all these comments I dont feel so bad now. I guess cleaning the doggone thing is like gaining weight, you dont notice it as it goes along then one day you go damn I'm as big as a house! I'm with Skymama I considered myself a somewhat clean obsessive, but just never really put the oven into that spring cleaning schedule. My daughter said "momma, thats the color its supposed to be? I thought it was supposed dto be black. I guess every 9 years is a little long THRIVING IN MY DASH!!
  19. Curious due to I never really thought about this until my oven lit up like a sparkler on Thanksgiving day, but was proven this is a fairly important thing to remember especially right before the holidays when all the appliance parts stores are closed. THRIVING IN MY DASH!!
