  1. I have always jumped a positive pull- the straight pin has real meaning to me. I am so tired of explaining it to curved pin wearers- but do hope for the time when it no longer is questioned. 2. sleeping bag/mat & pillow are part of my gear packed in my trunk- even though d.z. is only 10 min. down the hill... tons of trailers, couches, bunks, room to crash at my d.z. for the night---no excuse for anyone to drive home after hanging around to celebrate with fellow jumpin buddies, also gate is closed and locked to parking lot at a convenient time. not to say there is many memorable evenings when certain drinkers want that gate open- fighting it is not the "right" of d.z. to "lock" them in, it is incredible that there has always been a bond of responsible thinking "drunks"- that talk them out of their decision to drive. 5. My understanding is that Robert Willie Pickton regularly picked up prostitutes from East Van. for the bikers parties (Hell's Angels Party House "The Piggy Palace" on the Pig Farm)....of course their pay would be drugs- and the Angel's had their "party girls." Pickton drove a converted bus with deeply tinted windows, "It was Willie's pride and joy." You are right the mug shots are demeaning-- More than 80 percent of the prostitutes were born and raised outside Vancouver. In 1998 they averaged one death per day from drug overdoses, the highest rate in Canadian history. 54 women, vanished between 1983 and 2001, with 85 investigators assigned to the case. Canada's Violent Crime Linkage System did not track missing persons without some evidence of foul play, and task force investigators were empty-handed. In the absence of a corpse or crime scene, even a specific date for most of the disappearances, forensic evidence was nonexistent. Regardless of their drug addiction, these women were "loved ones." 6. http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/news/story.html?id=12951c1c-1159-431d-8d9e-582923f6474c&k=61121 The man accused of being Canada's worst serial killer, Robert Pickton-56 is facing first-degree murder charges in the disappearance of 27 women, mostly sex-trade workers, from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. January 30, 2006 not-guilty pleas were entered on the 27 charges in B.C. Supreme Court. The B.C. government has put a mortgage worth $10 million on accused serial killer Robert Pickton's notorious pig farm to cover his publicly funded defence. It's astonishing that it has taken years to even begin the trial on crimes that began in the 1980s when prostitutes began to disappear off the streets of Vancouver. Like in the Green River murder case in Seattle, Vancouver law enforcement took its time even admitting that a serial killer was operating. Finally in 2002, police went to the Pickton farm and began to dig up the victims buried there. The most expensive murder investigation in Canadian history (over $70 million.) Police and forensic investigators spent more than 18 months sifting through soil at Pickton's - 17 acre pig farm near Port Coquitlam, Vancouver B.C. finding human remains. Police brought in heavy excavation equipment to sift through the soil, including two 50-foot flat conveyer belts and two dump trucks. The investigation team was made up of 91 people: 30 to 40 police and 52 forensic and archeological experts. Several archeological students were hired to help go through the dirt as it passes by on the conveyer belts and identify remains. Other forensic experts focused on reconstructing the crime scene by looking at how the bones were scattered around the farm. Investigators found 3,000 pieces of evidence in the top levels of the dirt on the Pickton farm. http://www.crimelibrary.com/serial_killers/predators/robert_pickton/1.html A song recorded as a tribute to women missing from Vancouver's downtown east side titled: "The Streets Where You Live" included top Canadian musicians such as Tragically Hip (Gord Downie,) Barenaked Ladies (Steven Page,) Blue Rodeo's (Jim Cuddy,) Bif Naked, Colin James and David Usher. All of the song's royalties go to the non-profit Buried Heart Society who runs a treatment centre for female drug addicts. SMiles

Sugar and other carbohydrates must be limited once a person develops diabetes, but sugar itself doesn’t cause the disease; excess weight and physical inactivity are the culprits. 10. 1 infusion of remicade (infliximab - human and mouse proteins 1/2 size of a bottle of insulin) cost $3,800. cnd. According to weight (mine is 130 lbs.) I was infused 3 vials every 3 months for 3 years, and now not in need of more treatments. Huge cost of the drug is most likely why doctors do not prescribe (patients have to afford the cost if medical doesn't cover- hoping this changes in our system.) Line ups of peoples with rheumatoid arthritis are walking away (previously walking cripled up with canes or in wheel chairs) after infusions relieved of all pain-and not having to take anti-inflamatory meds. Also crohn's disease patients defininately have less suffering with inflamation of the intestines, and fistula. Diabetes hard to control when suffering with crohn's, therefore easier to control---(remicade treatments not indicated for Diabetes alone.) All are autoimmune disorders. The cost of remicade infusion with my extended health medical is covered here in B.C. but only 2 provinces in Canada are doing this. I am unsure how it works in U.S.A. but do know it was being used for treament there years before Canada got treatment. 11. hey! I have had type 1 diabetes for 40 years, injected insulin daily, watch my diet of course and exercise... (when I was 10 yrs. old boiled my needles & syringes and tested my urine for blood sugars) Treatment of diabetes way back was stupid for children as laying in a hospital bed with doctors trying to regulate insulin was retarded, tons of fear tactics like "you should not have children, always wear shoes as you will get gangarene and have your feet cut of"...treated like you were a bed ridden sick kid when you actually have nothing wrong.... At least Diabetes can be controlled with regular life style and insulin but inhaling it rather than injecting sounds cool---- Although will still need to poke yourself I understand, The FDA review panel expressed concern about the bulkiness of the dispenser and about some patients who experienced coughing or a slight decrease in lung capacity when using the drug. Pfizer will study the long-term effects of Exubera on the lungs, as well as its safety and effectiveness in patients with lung disease. My understanding is that Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the beta cells in the pancreas that make insulin. Thus, the pancreas does not make insulin, a hormone which helps turn blood sugar (glucose) into energy. Interesting to me is that my bodies immune system is in overdrive, overproduction of the biological activity of TNFa alpha cells- this causes inflamation (type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, crohn's disease, all I am diagnosed with) So- I am treated with insulin, and rather than pumping my body full of anti-inflamatory, I am treated with Remicade infusions (Infliximab) which is a monoclonal antibody, a type of protein that recognizes and binds to and neutralizes the TNF alpha (changes body chemistry- stops inflamation) Remicade is made with human and mouse proteins----(I feel like a science experiment) My diabetes is in way better control since I started Remicade infusions, also crohn's, and rheumatoid arthritis stop flaring up. With 40 years of Diabetes have had no problems associated (eyes are perfect, always heal fine, no kidney problems, heart etc.) And of course 18 yrs. of skydiving has been most benifical to my health! One thing I am famous for at the dz is my snacks (always have food to eat to keep my blood sugars level for skydiving)
  12. books he has written: -Flanagan, T. (1991) Metis Lands in Manitoba, Calgary: University of Calgary Press. -(1996) Louis ‘David’ Riel: Prophet of the New World, Toronto: University of Toronto Press. -(2000a) Riel and the Rebellion: 1885 Reconsidered, Toronto: University of Toronto Press. -(2000b) First Nations? Second Thoughts, Montreal and Kingston: McGill-Queen’s University Press. “First Nations? Second Thoughts” espousing the idea that Aboriginal people were merely immigrants and the best thing for all involved would be assimilating them into mainstream culture. I can refute with my opinion but my opinion isn't based on what is- or isn't "true." re: “Europeans are, in effect, a new immigrant wave, taking control of land just as earlier aboriginal settlers did. To differentiate the rights of earlier and later immigrants is a form of racism.” – Thomas Flanagan, Conservative Party Insider‘ The vanquished in the course of colonial history were commonly denied rights precisely along lines of race, to the calculated advantage of the newcomers who seized property and control. To suggest that Aboriginal people should now be denied differential rights on grounds that this would be racist, -I feel is a double standard. Flanagan’s opposition to unique Aboriginal rights is also predicated on a particular view of human freedom. Society is ‘a spontaneous order that emerges from the choices of individual human beings’, wherein government makes and enforces the ‘rules that allow society to function. Individuals naturally congregate in families and other associations, but these must be voluntary if society is to be free and Aboriginal rights are neither race-based nor racist. They are, more accurately, inherited, not unlike the well-accepted European tradition of rights inherited along family lines. Aboriginal ownership of a disproportionate land base on the basis of inherited rights, similarly, is not inherently racist. just as Canadian citizenship is heritable, so is First Nation membership, and in both cases this is a matter of descent, not of race. What is your opinion? SMiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.

    Year of the Dog

Chinese New Year 2006 http://www.c-c-c.org/chineseculture/zodiac/dog.html Year of the Dog 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006 People born in the Year of the Dog possess the best traits of human nature. They have a deep sense of loyalty, are honest, and inspire other people¡¦s confidence because they know how to keep secrets. But Dog People are somewhat selfish, terribly stubborn, and eccentric. They care little for wealth, yet somehow always seem to have money. They can be cold emotionally and sometimes distant at parties. They can find fault with many things and are noted for their sharp tongues. Dog people make good leaders. They are compatible with those born in the Years of the Horse, Tiger, and Rabbit. SMiles
  16. Stephen Harper only won, and barely won, because he pretended to be well farther to the left than he actually is. He had to. The new prime minister has the support of less than 36 percent of the population. This is not a mandate to do anything but tread political water. His right-wing promises are history because he has no mandate, nor the numbers, to pursue them. Now that the election is over the populist right could begin in earnest, and not just from supporters. Harper managed to keep his old Reform MPs quiet for 55 days. To keep them, especially the right-wing Christians and anti-abortionists, quiet until the next election would take divine intervention. It remains to be seen how Harper will carve out a political image suitable to his task of winning a majority 18 to 24 months from now. He has brought in some experienced Tories from the Mulroney era to help in the transition, but he still has Tom Flanagan, chief from right-wing Calgary School, as his close confidant. My opinion….Marrying evangelism and Strauss is about as scary as it gets. Lines straight out of the American neo-con playbook? Re: Thomas Flanagan, Conservative Party Insider SMiles
  17. So, then your are implying the updated authorized king james version- is not to be considered the word of god?? Software called “Translator” extracts all archaic words and by comparing them with a custom dictionary it will sort and produce a list of all verses that needs updating. The author of “Translator” then views this list and by comparing the words with references to Strong’s Greek/Hebrew concordance, the new or more comprehensible words are, then inserts them into the custom dictionary. Later the “Translator” will update all the words in the entire AUTHORIZED KJV text. The use of technology also guarantees that the work produced is not “biased” in any nature but accurate and true to its meaning. 18. Hey, got some great info here in replies! Are you implying these dudes do not know what they are talking about?? I just removed the thermocouple thingy! Furnace was off/ gas off/ no harm of blowd up. Heading down to home depo to buy a new one rather than pay gas guy to make a home visit. No harm in trying.... if it works I will owe all here a beer! If it doesn't work I will call the gas guy and depending on cost will most likely look into purchasing a new energy efficient furnace rather than spend money on anything else. (just going without gas bill and heat till next winter will enable me to save!) Cannot whine about freezin as we have had total mild winter (think it's over!) 19. None of the major political parties come close in supporting my politcal choice. Mine was a protest vote. The NDP used to be the party of protest , but now is full of higher purpose persons which support a strong special interest lobby, NDP do not support the common people. The Reform morphed into the Alliance, which morphed into the Conservatives. Now the Conservatives are full of right wing neocons, with a strong Christian bent. The Conservatives will support back to basic type people, "God bless Canada!" The Liberals believe they have a devine right to rule and treat the West as shit, funding dubious programs mainly to keep their cronies recieving government paycheques. Without constitutional change anything given to B.C. will depend on the ruling party. As a British Columbian all I want from the confederation of Canada is my fair share. Nothing more , nothing less. The Conservatives have stated that they will begin that change. They deserve a chance to prove that as minority. 22. Exactly!! I shuddered when I heard those words. Strong opposition is gooood! Will be a tough ride for conservatives as minority-- (hurry up and wait) I was getting scared they might get majority!! this is cute: A little boy goes to his dad and asks, "Whatz Politics?" Dad says, "Well son, let me try to explain it this way: I am the head of the family, so call me The Prime Minister. Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her The Government. We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you The People. Your nanny, we will consider her the Working Class. And your baby brother, we will call him the Future. "Now think about that and see if it makes sense." So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said. Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him. He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper. So the little boy goes to his parent's room and finds his mother sound asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny. He gives up and goes back to bed. The next morning, the little boy say's to his father, "Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now---The Prime Minister is screwing the Working Class while the Government is sound asleep. The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep shit." SMiles eustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being.
