    Yom Kippur

it's not...just trying to understand them. Apart from a cordial thank-you for patronising me, you do not try to understand. At least not in the first place. You try to missionise since you wrote that there was no atonement with the blood of Christ. Jews do not need the blood of Rabbi Jeshua ben Joseph for their Day of Atonement. What's so hard about accepting this? BTW: Not only do Jews have their own belief, theirs has been there before... The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

    Yom Kippur

That's one of the reasons I like living in Germany. Chances are much, much less to run into religious zealots like you appear to be one. Why is it so hard for you to accept that other people have different beliefs? Why does it always have to be Christianity and only Christianity to gain redemption, etc pp.? BTW: Remember that Christianity is just Judaism for Windows... (That's a joke, just to make sure...) Well, I read this thread too late, but anyway, I hope you don't spread any zeal concerning Sukkoth. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  3. I had minimum invasive surgery (L5S1) in 2005 and returned to skydiving about half a year later and have done about 1000 jumps since, many of which were tandem videography and thus, quite demanding for my spine. I've also done quite a number of tandem jumps since and haven't had and problems except from not-too-bad sacroiliac pain now and then which can be relieved by stretching etc. I have been doing back and abdomen exercises every morning for about 10-15 mins which I consider - along with working out in the gym and Xcountry skiing in winter - as the "secret". And, I lift weights etc of course according to the safety rules I was taught. I met fellows who complain about lumbar pain after surgery but they do not really do anything for their back/abdomen nor do they live active lifestyles, so it's rather "DO ANY sports, even skydiving" but "Sit on the sofa"

  5. Not really, beg your pardon. The spelling "Kristian" only refers to a name (which indeed stands for "Christian") but only in languages such as German or Swedish. AFAIK there is no "official" way to spell "Christian" (as an adjective or denomination term) as "Kristian". The "Muslim"/"Moslem" thing seems to arise from the fact that the original term is written in Arabic letters and thus needs to be transcribed for which there are several ways due to several reasons it seems. BTW: We experience a take-over of the American transcribing system of names written in Cyrillic letters here in Germany at the moment, e. g. "Evgenij" instead of good old "Jewgeni". Not to talk about Gorbatschow or Rachmaninow... The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  6. Found this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oml71o0RHUk&feature=related on youtube as well, OMG... To me it's "Things the world doesn't need" because I suspect there will be accidents (not to talk about fatalities) sooner or later if this becomes kinda factory thing. The sky is not the limit. 7. I'm also a CYPRES advocate based on: a) I've been using Cypres (1 and2) since I started skydiving b) I was at their headquarters during my instructor course (sort of a "field trip" ) and we all were very impressed by the high standards. You got to be there to see how much effort they take, how meticulously they work etc. CEO Helmut Cloth told us how it all began, all the hardships etc; took about 90mins - It was very impressing. c) We use CYPRES here in Gera for all kinds of rigs from students to tandems. There aren't many birdmen around here but the few who come around all use... CYPRES. One might argue that "competition is always good and a monopoly is bad". That's true and CYPRES no longer has a "monopoly" (never had, if you consider FXC12000 etc) and if you know how much effort it took and still takes to provide highest quality at a reasonable price (as well as free goodies such as the CYPRES loop etc) you no longer listen to people giving flak to Airtec just for the single reason of "fighting a monopoly" My 2 €-cents The sky is not the limit. 8. How pathetic. I grew up with things like that and never liked it. And I don't think chanting words will change anything. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  9. Hi Captain, as I wrote before, I usually jump the EZ (Elliptical ZeroP) which comes with packing tabs. I was quite surprised to find out the (old) Twin canopies come without them. Once you got used to packing tabs, you miss 'em :-) The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  10. We use NeXt rigs with EZ or Twin canopies, all items manufactured by Paratec. (NeXt rigs are Vector type.) The preferred method here is flat packing, encouraged by the DZ operator. You're much in control of the lines and can prevent lineovers fairly well. I usually jump an EZ 384 that opens fairly well, almost snivelish.
  11. P.S.: As a German, I could choose slaves from quite a variety of countries, by the way... And, according to Beavis and Butt-Head, KuhNuhdah is "the big state in the north", IIRC - maybe that's the reason US Americans can't own them? The sky is not the limit. The ground is. 12. Too bad it hasn't ever been aired on German free TV. But I suppose quality stuff like West Wing is considered a thread to the audience numbers/rates by the powers-that-be of the various channels. Most of 'em prefer airing cheaply produced gemstones like Big Brother or "The Top 25 funniest farts on TV" etc pp it seems... The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  13. Hi Sonic, I believe that jumpers not only should but will stick to the method they were taught. I was taught the two-hand method and after about 1300 skydives I was due: Hard opening, I looked up and saw: Line Over and knew it was going to get nasty and it did; instantly spinning really fast. I immediately decided to cut away and without thinking, grabbed the cutaway handle with both hands (almost being horizontally) and pulled it out to full length (and threw it away as I have been told years before). I then was thrown through the orbit and found myself on my back, arched and grabbed for the reserve handle and... nothing. Fartknocker, LOOK, I told myself and, voilà there it was and I pulled it out with both hands. Next thing I hang under a green reserve canopy. Took nine years to see it inflated I think when being thrown through the skies (due to the radial force when chopping away a nasty spinner) you will most likely not be able to leave your left hand on your reserve handle, so I think the two-hand method works well - as long as you look (I'm practising the "look to the reserve handle" with much more emphasis now. ) But if someone was taught the one-hand method I would not attempt to make them change their EPs - see above: One is most likely to stick to the EP you were taught first and any other method training should only mess with what your muscle memory is going to do... Just my 2 Eurocents.
