  1. The software is stable now IMO. Has been since version 1.16, at least, I believe. Of course Alti-2 are always working on new settings and improvements which will result in future software releases, but that doesn't mean that prior versions of the software don't work, just may not have every bell and whistle that'd be available with the new release. Give it a try if you get a chance. I think you'll like it a lot
  2. Nothing funny about swooping a Spectre, yeah they may not be the best swoop canopy, doesn't mean you can't get a decent surf out of them (and it sounds like you are!!). My original question was posted more at Drew, but it's good to hear how carefully you're approaching this. Guess there's still a lot of mystique surrounding the Katana and where it fits into everything. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  3. That is my understanding as well (guess we'll all see soon enough
  4. I'd also try get in line for a Katana demo. The CF2 is a good canopy, and I *think* the Katana is supposed to be PD's answer to the CF2. Should be an interesting comparison. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  5. LOL - I was just thinking the same thing. If the jumper is lucky enough to post the thread. The S&TA should be ashamed and so should the "instructor" (sic) that sold it to him. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  6. fair enough, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a point. Unless you're an advanced canopy pilot (by the current uspa recomendations in the 2004 SIMS), you have no business being under that canopy. Period. To keep this thread clean, PM me if you want to respond. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  7. I have been very happy with my neptune so far. One HUGE advantage I think it has over any product out there at the moment is the ability to update the firmware. That been said, what are you looking to use it for? If for a visual altimeter then definately, it's very very nice. So far my customer service has been great with Alti-2, granted L&B's is good too(I have a pro-ditter), but so far I've been given no reason to think that Alti-2 isn't going to provide the same level. Good luck with your decision. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  8. Hey man, Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying don't ask questions here, or anywhere for that matter. I was just making a general observation. Wasn't trying to single you out or anything. fact of the matter is that a LOT of people come here asking questions looking for just 1 person so agree with them so they feel justified in their position. Not saying that's you either, just kinda making a general comment. Sorry for any confusion. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  9. static line openings tend to result in line twists for one (at least thats what I remember from mine and my friends), so I'd assume that'd be a big negative? Besides you'd still have the d-bag and that creates a fair amount of drag too. I do like the system that the PD guys use for reeling in the PC though. Quite neat. 10. I assume you mean 190 as he is 170 pounds (excl gear I'm assuming). Either way - yeah a 190 would most likely be better. I still wonder why people come online for these questions though - aren't there approachable instructors at any of these dz's??? Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  11. Hey Dude, I wanted to add a couple of thoughts to your decision process, so here goes (hopefully I make some sense

  13. damn I miss biltong. Jerky just isn't nearly the same. *sigh* Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  14. Yeah man - my fingers are bruised after a weekend of jumping since I've been doing 270's. They're getting tougher though
  15. If you're grabbing the whole riser with your hand (dive blocks) then aren't you opening yourself up to a higher chance of dropping a toggle VS Dive loops where you put 2 fingers through the loop? Just trying to make sure I understand what your saying correctly. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  16. I jumped a stilletto a while back with dacron (Craig West's)....damn did that thing take forever to open. Was kinda sweet actually. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
