I remember the metro airport on Hwy 3. After it closed, we would drag race on the air strip. I found a web site with a pic of a Metro Otter. The pic was taken in Dallas. It was white with a little bit of blue and red. I was curious if it was one of the Houston Metro planes. I would go out there and lay in the grass and watch skydivers jump for hours. I was to young and to broke to make a jump. Back then you could have probably jumped under 18 years old. Thanks for the info. I normally jump at Spaceland, but I have found Waller a lot of fun. I used to go out there and watch when I was young. I was to young to jump back then. What year did that place close? I know they were flying an Otter at one point. What happened to the plane? I was flying with a friend on Tuesday and we flew over Houston Gulf. Well what used to be. They tore the run way out and everything is gone. I was told that one of Osama Bin Laudins brothers owned Houston Gulf and that was the reason they closed it down. (the airport)....Any truth to this? You dont't get to choose how you're going to die. I am going to take mine in the next few weeks. What kinds of questions are on the D? I just took my B last week. I am taking my C this week. Trying to beat the Sept 30th deadline. Does the paper work have to be at USPA on the first? Or Does it have to be post marked by the first? I am going to be cutting it real close to get mine. I am 50 jumps away. When I was in Playa Del Carmen last month I made a two tank dive in Cozemel. Waited 24 hrs and made a skydive and landed on the beach with no problems what so ever. Man, I love that beautiful blue water from 10k. I am planning a trip to Belize in September. I am definitly bringing my rig for some more beach jumps. I just made my first night jump this past Saturday. I must say it was one of my most memorable skydives ever. The moon was full and the sky was clear. The view was amazing. To the south I could see the moonlight reflecting off of the Gulf of Mexico. They put up two loads that night. If they would have let me, I would have done them till dawn. I cant wait to do some more. For the people that were on those two loads. I sure had a blast jumping with you! Blue skies............. You dont't get to choose how you're going to die. No pie yet...... The DZ is in Playa Del carmen. It is 42 miles south of Cancun. It is about a 45 min bus ride from Cancun. Or a 30 minute scary cab ride. The plane is a very nice wide body 182. If I were to guess it was an late 70's early 80's model. Very clean. On the ride to altitude you can see Cozamel. Very beautiful. I had a problem on the airline ride home. The feds at the airport hassled me about my rig. They had never seen a parachute before. They did not speak very good english. I explained to him how valuable it was. So I made a deal with one of the guys. I watched him put it on the plane. We were on the tarmack when we boarded the plane so I could see it being put on. It all worked out. Wow what a terible loss. How did they get into the vehicle? Was in out in the open where some one could see it. You might try looking in pawn shops around. The dum ass might try and pawn it.
