  1. Oh Ian, you did not have to do that just to show your solidarity. I feel like I'm setting a trend at The Farm...! This happened August 8, 2010 at a demo jump into a rodeo arena. Winds were light. Canopy- Velo90, WL- 2.4 I did not walk the 200 x 300 feet landing area before the jump. Lesson learned! I can honestly say those bulls leave pretty deep footprints in the dirt!! Not friendly to oncoming human ankles. Injury: Spiral distal fibula, non-displaced. No reduction or surgery needed. Even the mortice was preserved (for those of you ortho enthused). I guess if you are breaking something, this is the way to go. Cost to me: $0.00 Thanks Emory ortho and spine center. HISPA #5
  2. Awesome boogie, as always! Agree with more planes... the boogie is growing exponentially! HISPA #5
  3. 2 days left; well... 4 for me but wohoooo anyways HISPA #5
  4. What do you do when your wife ask for "more space"? Enlarge the kitchen. HISPA #5
  5. When a white baby dies, where does he go? (Heaven) and what does he become? (Angel) When a black baby dies, where does he go? (Heaven) and what does he become? (Bat) HISPA #5
  6. Your momma's so dumb, she sits on the TV and watches the couch. HISPA #5
  7. I agree w/ Chris. I also think too much toplessnes would be exposing boobies to gravity; boobies worst enemy HISPA #5
  8. QuotePerhaps you should read the guidelines of this forum before posting Quote She did't post it here. It was moved here by a moderator HISPA #5
  9. anyone else go from a veng to a velo? ***Quote Yes, I had a Veng 120, 107 and 97 before buying a Velo 90 (flew a 103 and 96 a few times before getting the 90) The Veng. was the most similar to the Velo out of the canopies I have tried. I'm also in love with the canopy. It's the best purchase i've made...no doubt!
  10. The last time I spoke with him down in Puerto Rico he mentioned he would be flying planes for Airexpress at Crosskeys most of this season and do some coaching (FF & CC) as well. Edited to add: He was not planning on competing THIS season. HISPA #5
  11. It also made it to the news here in Puerto Rico! Saw it on 2 channels
  12. I would love to see the video of this jump! Is there any way to post a link to it?....Please! HISPA #5
  13. If you have lots of line to stow, then you have long brake lines. If you have little line to stow, then they are short. EDIT: I'm not saying too long or too short. That, you have to check with in flight tests *** I know, I'm just saying that's the way it came from PD and it looks like a lot. But those are the factory settings and it's trimmed just fine. 14. Here are a few. I can't remember who took them so MY BAD FOR NOT GIVING CREDITS! HISPA #5
  15. >>>There's a very easy way to allieviate that problem. Bump up your pull altitude, and your decision altitude. I don't like to be in freefall below 3.5, and my decision altitud is about 2.0. *** I agree with every word you say, my argument is that, even though we plan to open high, there are some circumstances when we end opening a bit lower than we'd like. i.e. stinger on a big way, if you do a barrel roll and see someone above (whatever!) The point is that it sometimes happens and if you happen to have a malfuntion in one of those jumps, mabe you don't have a lot of time to practice flares and find out if the canopy stalls witha simple tuggle turn. I guess it all comes down to what you said... "In this sport you get what you pay for, so if you'r looking to save a few buck's then your going to pay for it elsewhere." HISPA #5
  16. people not doing practice flares before landing, or trying to flare it like a conventional main. My Tempo lands just fine. *** Well, not all people have the chance to practice flares when they find themselves under a reserve. I guess the best bet would be demoing the reserve. Some companies offer to do that. (Jump it as your main a few times) HISPA #5
  17. >>>If your wife is small and skilled enough to handle a main that fits in an XRS, she would have no problem under a tried, tested, and true good ol' fashion PD-R 113, which is tight, but does fit in an XRS.*** I guess you are right. The 113' is bigger than her main anyway. My wife and I had this discusion a while ago but never acted on it. We should get our shit together and change her reserve! [edit]Ad removed[/edit] HISPA #5
  18. From your profile I gather you fly a Sabre2 I have never jumped that canopy but that's the canopy my wife has. One thing that cought my eye from day 1, is all the excess break line after you stow the toggles. It is a lot more than what I'm used to see in other canopies and it flares fine. Do you have many jumps on your lines or did you buy it used? Mabe is line shrinking like others have stated. HISPA #5
  19. >>>What's up? Buying new equipment? *** No, and if I were, I would also buy another PD-R even though I have never had to use it. My concern is about my wife. When she bought her rig, it came with a Dash-M (I think 109') She has never had to use it buy is always good to know what to expect. We're not sure if we should wait for the new PD-R's or just buy her a current PD reserve. The thing is her rig is an XRS and the current PD-R would have to be very, very small. (although her exit weight is 120lbs) HISPA #5
  20. Reading the post about Tempo Reserves made me curious about Dash-M reserves. Any info on how they fly? Any tips from people who had to land them? HISPA #5
  21. >>>Don't hold your breath on these canopies for the very near future. PD still has to test, certify, market, manufactor and all the other goodies associated with a canopy. *** I know, and meanwhile I'm sticking with my PD Reserve. I have a Odyssey NJ from when I flew a Vengeance 120 and have not bought a smaller rig just because I feel more comfortable knowing I have a PD 126 on my back rather than a smaller reserve or a Tempo 120 (which fits in a XRS). I would love to get my hands on the smallest Micron out there but if that means I have to pack a 99' reserve in it (testing the higher limits of it's capability) or a 120' of a brand that I don't trust, I'll wait for PD to come out with something new. Hell, I waited 4 years until I felt ready and capable to fly a small Velocity, I can wait for a reserve. HISPA #5
  22. A friend of mine had 2 TEMPO reserve rides at Rantoul this year. She jumps a Tempo 120 not even close to the max wing loading and stalled them both injuring herself. Another friend of mine with over 6,000 jumps stalled another Tempo and broke his ankle. With this in mind, and all I've heard and seen during the years, I'll stick to PDR's Oh, BTW... PD is soon to be launching a new line of lightweight reserves that pack very small. This meaning that you can pack a 143' where you used to pack a 106. Does it get any better? HISPA #5
  23. I hope you guys are having a great time! I would love to be there HISPA #5
