  1. HA HA HA, Lazerq! Too sweet
  2. Mike, I'd LOVE to go. I've always wanted to do a wreck dive and haven't yet. How deep is it? I'm certified up to 60 feet deep although I've dived 80 feet before. Anything more requires an advanced liscense which I don't have. I'm not really experienced as I get to go only once a year but I've been enough times to have a real good feel for it. Like you, it's been over a year since I've been but my boyfriend wants to get certified as well so maybe I can get him certified in time and we can both come with you. I'd LOVE that
  3. Zennie....Cozumel is my abosolute favorite spot to dive. I have dived in Jamaica, Caymen Islands, Paradise Island, and Cozumel and Coz is definitely my favorite
  4. Frank...Oh my gosh! Octopus dens??? Sea lions??? I'm there! I'm the opposite of you though and have only dived in the waaaaarrrm waters of the Carribean. I haven't been in over a year but I used to take trips out there w/ my family every spring and they'd do whatever and ALL I'd do was scuba-dive all day, every day. Usually we'd make 2 dives a day in locations fairly close to each other. I have't seen a whole lot of sea animals but I've seen the most beautiful reefs and fish and even a SHARK....I looooved the shark. I have never been off the coast of Florida though, ironic, huh? We will definitely plan a trip sometime! Much love and blue skies! Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/

    Can't Decide

You mean at other DZs they have one of those signs that say you have to be *this* tall to ride the airplane up to jump? He he he....Just Kidding
  6. Frank! Me too. All the more reason why you need some visitors in B.C. I've never been fresh-water diving before and am only *open water certified* as I haven't been able to afford (b/c of skydiving...he he he) my advanced scuba-course. But I don't have any friends that scuba-dive and I'm always getting buddied up on my trips with the scared newbie. Not that I dont' enjoy helping them out, ext. but it'd be VERY cool to dive with you sometime and be able to be a little more adventurous. What do you say???
  7. Thank you for the "flyaway" clear-up but I'm still confused as to why someone was wearing a rig in the windtunnel. Is this done often as actual practice w/ your gear on or something? Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/

    What a joke

Frank, I didn't know you lived in B.C....you want some visitors for a weekend? We can go snowboarding
  9. Wow, I hope they put a clip of that in the new IMAX skydiving film they're making....that would be soooo cool to view on that screen. MUCH LOVE AND BLUE SKIES! Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  10. PS....speaking of weird wind-tunnels....did you know there are portable wind-tunnels??? I didn't. A guy that works at the windtunnel here was telling me about them. He said it costs an arm and a leg but if you've got millions (which I'm sure none of us have but it's still cool to know it exits) that it's possible to have a windtunnel in your own backyard? Crazy, huh?
  11. Hey Froggie, what's a "flyaway" windtunnel? You wear a rig in the tunnel? You'll have to excuse me but the only tunnel I've flown in is the one here in Orlando where it's inside so I had no idea there was any other kind (besides the outdoor ones.) Fill me in
  12. Well, Mike, I *know* you didn't go to Deland yesterday b/c he, he, he, that's what we thought we'd do too and there was a mean thunderstorm all around as far as the eye could see all day so we headed back home to the beach where I thought the wind was going to blow the house down! Here in Orlando today, it is pretty cold and very windy. It sux but hopefully, as you said, the weather will be better this weekend. Unfortunately I will no see you in Sebastian (what part of Florida are you from??) There's a possibility I'll be in Deland this weekend but alas, I might have to skip a weekend b/c my b/f is moving and I'm his helper
  13. AWESOME! Thanks Grogs, and Craig. I LOVE speed, not sure why but I'd be stoked to see anyone break the sound barrier. That wouldn't hurt a person in any way doing that??? I thought that when they first were attempting to break the barrier with airplanes that many blew up or maybe the movie I saw that in was fictional but I'm pretty sure it wasn't. I know they break it now with airplanes but does anyone know if a person doing this is at risk for anything serious like that??? I am so stoked by that information (600mph on his BELLY!) Wow....I'd love to try that someday in the future! I wonder though (I know I'm asking a lot of questions here but now you've got my curiosity going) could Kittenger *feel* how fast he was falling on his belly??? I know that the only time I've felt my speed accelerate was going from a sit to stand and I think a lot of my *feeling* that acceleration was simply b/c I was watching myself fall faster than my boyfriend in a sit. So does anyone know, does it feel a whole lot different falling at 600mph? Again, pardon my cluelessness here but science is my WORST subject. Much love and blue skies! Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  14. AggieDave, I'll start by saying I have VERY LITTLE information on this but I have heard of and have seen a picture of a canopy windtunnel that I'm 99% sure exists but only (so far) for the purpose of testing new canopies. (I'm totally not sure when I say this but I think it's Icarus that has this.) That is all I know about that but at least it answers your question that it can be done. I'd be willing to bet that with the emergence of more interest in canopy competitions, ext. that this is something that we will see in the future although maybe not the real near future. MUCH LOVE AND BLUE SKIES! Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  15. Ha ha ha....this has got to be the funniest I've heard. I have but a few, maybe 7 or 8 shirts. I think all but 3 were originally my boyfriends or shirts he gave me. My favorite would have to be a long-sleeve Para-Performance games shirt just b/c it's long sleeves and I LOVE long-sleeves. The rest of my shirts, except for one tye-dye one are all shorties. MUCH LOVE AND BLUE SKIES! Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  16. He he he...not weird at all, Froggie. Skydiving, in my opinion, causes you to use muscles you've not used much before and certain things can be tiring or cause muscle tension in the beginning but I'm sure you believe as I do that it's alllllll worth it! I'm sorry you diddn't get to jump this weekend. Think of it this way, it's your first jump and all ready you get to experience what many of us experience all the time, BAD WEATHER! It just sux. I've spent many days at the DZ during bad weather and even have a funny picture, taken off-guard, when I walked out of the restaurant at our DZ to see about 20 skydivers sitting on the deck and all were looking straight up at the sky, heads back. The picture is SO FUNNY and so true and was not planned. After I took it I found out that they were all trying to decide whether or not this VERY tiny hole in the clouds would make it jumpable....ha ha ha. So I joined them in their wishful thinking. I can't wait to hear the story after your first jump....keep us posted. And PS....you won't need the gym anymore. A couple weekends ago, I was sit/stand flying the entire day and after I got home, my arms felt like they would completely fall off. Who needs a gym when you can skydive???
  17. Aviatrr, Yea, the winds were roaring yesterday but they still were making a lot of jumps in Sebastian. They did several 14-way birdmans and then broke the record with 19-way birdman late afternoon. (My boyfriend was there so this is where I got the info) There were also quite a few 50-way RWs. I couldn't jump b/c the place I volunteer at needed people so I went there instead since the weather report (winds) didn't look so great for me. The weather today looks iffy but I'll pray for you that it is good so you can get a few in in the morning. HAVE FUN, post back and let me know what happened. MUCH LOVE AND BLUE SKIES! Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  18. I'm not sure which DZ they went to but it was a friend named Jeff Guy. He went on a surfing trip with some whuffo surf buddies of ours and said he was going to a New Years Boogie. A few of us at the DZ had planned on going for a few months but when the time came, couldn't swing the cost. Did you meet an older man named Jeff Guy??? MUCH LOVE AND BLUE SKIES! Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/ PS. I didn't know there was more than one DZ in New Zealand. There is one DZ there that Jeff is friends with the owner he said so that's the one he went to but I thought there was only one. Sorry for the confusion but maybe it was the same one if you met him
  19. Hey wingie-ding. Nice to see you. Hope you get back soon!

    TGIF!!

My fingers are crossed for ya Sis! I'm sure the weather will be better tomorrow! MUCH LOVE AND BLUE SKIES! Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  21. MMMMMMM, how was it? I wish I could have been there, some friends went but I couldn't swing the cost. Maybe next year. We had fun anyways though at our DZ on New Years so it all turned out okay I guess. GLAD YOU HAD FUN! Oh, to reply to your question though, it would have to be my first weekend off AFF status. I did 6 jumps on that Saturday and they were my favorite 6 jumps to date b/c everyone was so nice and eager to teach me cool things and it was great since the 3 months I spent getting through AFF (trying to buy gear and course costs, I did 2 levels a month) I didn't know a single person there since I came during the week when no-one was there and it was just me and my JM in the plane so it was sooooo nice and by far my most memorable experience to finally make some friends who now I consider, *my family*

    Tax season...

Billy, WELL SAID! You and I will be in the same bracket next year b/c when my swim coaching season starts up, I'm considered and *independent contractor* now for my company so no tax return next year but I shouldn't owe either....I hope. Thank you again for that awesome post. Although it shouldn't, this arguement has been bothering me all day. I'm glad you had something nice to contribute to both parties
  23. HE HE HE....so you're saying I'm a PLFunkwown-drip-under-pressure. Ha ha ha....cool. Yea, I've tried to switch credit cards (b/c it's been 6 months now that I've had it) but w/ my balance, none would take the transfer even though I've always made my payments on time, ext. Not sure why so maybe this one will take me. Nope, not leasing a Gulfstream IV but at least the card has a cool picture of skydivers on the front (ha ha ha.....I'm really credit card clueless so if the picture's good, I guess it works for me.) Miked, thanks for the advice. I will apply and see what happens
  24. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone else got this in the mail and if so, if they're going for it. I got a credit card application from USPA. It says it has a low 1.9% APR on all balance transfers, ext. ext. but it says that anytime you make a purchase, a small contribution is made to USPA that doesn't cost you anything extra. It sounds like a great idea and I have 1 credit card with a $1000 balance I have maxed out and think it'd be cool to have it transfered to USPA since the APR is lower and I could pay it off faster, ext.....Since this is the only credit card I've ever had (and plan on having, damn these things) I'm kinda new to the game so any advice would be appreciated! I think it'd be REALLY COOL to have my purchases contribute to USPA though, might as well, right? And to think I almost tore it up until I saw it was from USPA. At least, I figure, USPA might be a little more understanding to a skydivers budget than my Capital One card does. MUCH LOVE AND BLUE SKIES! Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
