  1. Thanks! I was actually looking for a used protrack but they seem hard to come by and go quickly when they are available. I really like the Optima II but it does not log jumps, correct? I may end up with the Neptune then... I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  2. I know there have been many posts on this but most are fairly old so forgive me for the repeating topic.... I'm looking for a basic audible that logs jumps. I'm not a swooper and don't plan to be anytime in the near future. Mostly looking for use for RW and coaching. The less expensive the better, I can't spend a fortune on this. I've done some research but just wanted to see what people thought might be a good choice. Thanks! I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  3. oh yes, still jumping for sure and have come quite a long way since then! I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  4. well, they didn't work out. We divorced in June 08 :( There were many other issues, certainly not just skydiving... I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  5. Great thanks! I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  6. Does anyone have any info on Serguei Borichtchev? He has a TON of gear posted in the classifieds, all prices ending in 5. His profile says only 67 jumps and the communication has been iffy. All his ads say to contact Serg at [email protected]. Anyone have any info or have done business with him? I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  7. It's a service industry, would you pay for the food and not tip the waiter? I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  8. Thanks! Really I just wanted to know what other people thought it could be based on the description of the mal. Nothing was found in the canopy as expected but based on what everybody here is saying, tension knot seems most probable. I appreciate all the input. I'll keep untwisting my brakes as I do now and be more careful stowing. It's nice to have one out of the way though at least I know I won't panic
  9. So if I do untwist the brake lines frequently and this was a tension knot, is there anything else I should be doing to prevent it from happening again or is it probably just a random "it happens" kind of thing? I did try to correct with the right for a while to see if I could clear it, but it was pretty bad and at my experience, I didn't even consider trying to land it like that. 10. That is good advice. Now here is some for you. Of course I did read your post BEFORE posting my response. Think about what you are posting or some people may think you are an asshole. Of course if that is the intent of your post then please continue with what trips your trigger. oh boy,oh boy, i'm getting blasted for a comment I didn't make, if you scroll back up I didn't say "read before giving advice," c10edges did. I aksed if ChuteMe read the post with a face like I was playing. Hope this clears it up, I'm not an asshole, I appreciate any input. thanks. I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  11. I was not at all bitching that I got a response, just asking if he read the post being that he suggested untwisting the break lines when I clearly said that I do that regularly. Thanks for the response. I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  12. Did you even read my post?? I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  13. Had my first cutaway yesterday and am still trying to figure out what exactly it was. I've been having some off heading openings on my Pilot 150. I opened 90 to the left, no big deal, collapsed my slider, it hasn't righted itself yet. still turning slow left. I have a square canopy over my head, no obvious line over, broken line, pinching or anything that I can see that would be causing it. I grabbed both toggles (which were perfectly stowed) and both came out of the keepers. Which immediately cause the canopy to dive hard to the left. When I went to flare to try to clear whatever it was, my left toggle only wanted to come down to about my chin, it had a ton of pressure like a spring that wanted to go back up, it felt like it was stuck on something, now I'm in a diving spin that's getting faster (not super fast but enough for me) I pumped a few more times with the same result, a springy, tension feeling. 2 grand, chopped it. Beautiful reserve ride right over the dz. The canopy was a mess when we found it and all the lines were a tangled ball of shit but there was no obvious issue. I'm happy with my decision to chop, in hind sight I could have maybe corrected with my right toggle to work with it a little more, but it being my first malfunction...I had enough and wanted it gone. I'm just a little perturbed that I'm not exactly sure what it was that caused it...i.e. how to prevent it in the future. It was my second jump of the day, first jump was no problem, on heading and perfect. I untwist my break lines every fifteen jumps or so and just did it a few jumps ago. People are saying it sounds like a possible tension knot, what do you think? and for the record...i threw on someone else's rig and completed the last two jumps of the four way scrambles :) I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  14. Jumptown is an all around great dz. You are treated like family even if it is not technically your "home dropzone." The load organizing is priceless (literally), and the experience you gain from jumping with the people there you won't find anywhere else. It is super easy to get on a load and do exactly what you want, you won't ever be sitting around or begging for people to jump with. It's a great dz for all experience levels and disciplines. Out of all the dz's I've been to, Jtown remains my favorite!
  15. I wear goggles and a helmet and have never had a problem....until a few weeks ago. First jump of the season for me, some air got in my goggles contact came out, had to downwind it with one eye closed, good stuff *downwinder had nothing to do with the contact coming out, just that the pattern was set and the winds shifted I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  16. Haha, i love how helping me with my electric bill turned into getting me to move south! don't get me wrong, i have considered it, just not the right time at the moment. I really appreciate all the help and education. I understand most of it and I do understand all the fees and everything but even with all the variables I just can't justify a bill that is double what it was in the old place with two people. Anyway, I will see what I can do and thank you for that site, that is what I was looking for! Thanks again! I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  17. Yes, that is the case with the delivery charges. I dug up some old bills from the old apartment with the roommate and we were paying about $35 for usage and about the same for delivery for a total bill of $70. There is no way in hell I am using $85 of electricity by myself just in usage. Everything on the bill looks okay besides the fact that the usage is extremely high. Last march is the other place I used 9kwh and this March in the new place I used 22kwh! Totally impossible. I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  18. Thanks for trying to help! Please excuse my ignorance with this stuff... My water heater is an A.O.Smith energy saver 50gallon, electric, I don't know what temp it's set at. I think it's 2 years old. The fridge is fairly old, not sure of the year. The apartment next door is vacant, it is supposed to be being renovated but nobody has touched it since November. The thermostat is set around 63-65 when I'm home (only about 4-6 hours a day) and about 58 at night and when I'm at work during the day. On the bill it says 713.00KWH x $0.122170 =$87.11 Supplier Services But on the back I have all these crazy delivery charges which adds another $56.84 to the bill. The meter is digital (icon) and it read 24394KWH just now, I watched it for a bit and it didn't change. The other meter for next door read 628KWH and also didn't change. The reading on my bill says 24047 then it says actual usage =713 Any conclusions based on that info?? I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  19. CL&P=Connecticut Light and Power-the monopoly electric supplier of CT. Here's the story: I moved into a new apartment, its one half of a duplex house. I live alone and am very energy conscious. I have natural gas heat, I unplug the computer and all small appliances during the day, I do two loads of laundry a week and run the dishwasher once a week. I'm hardly ever home and the lights are hardly ever on. Basically, I couldn't possibly use LESS electricity. My electric bill is close to $150/month!! I moved from a place twice the size WITH a roommate and my bill there with the same company was about $70/month. I've talked to some friends in the area and they can't understand it. One of my friends lives in a 2000sq.ft house with two kids and they have about 10 animal cages running all day, he does laundry and runs the dishwasher everyday and his bill is only slightly higher than mine. Another friend lives alone and probably uses about the same as i do and his bill is about $60/month. My usage itself is about $85 and i'm getting charged $59 delivery charges. When I call they can't explain it, they just say you can't compare one house to another and "just try to conserve as much as possible." It doesn't make any sense to me! Any thoughts??? 20. you're right, that is depressing but you're doing the right thing, good luck to you! I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  21. you're right, plenty of people jump at CPI all winter, I choose not to. money is tight and i'd rather save it for better, more enjoyable conditions. I will get up there for a hop n pop every once in a while to keep the edge off. But even if I was jumping here all winter, coming back from Eloy still would have depressed me, it was freakin' awesome there! I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  22. I used to get that, it does go away. Though after not jumping for 2 months due to CT winter, I went to the holiday boogie in Eloy, major depression upon return home. I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  23. Yeah, this is what I'm hoping is going to happen. It's a big box and not easily overseen. Like I said the post master is going to sent out emails tothe carriers. The earlier post about packages getting shredded on the belt.....well,.....ugh. This is such a horrible feeling. I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  24. Here's the story: I never updated my address on paypal and my canopy was shipped to a very old address (totally my fault, i know). The good news is that I caught it at the post office in the old town. I spoke with the post master and he had the package in his hands and forwarded it to me at my new address. That was last monday and it's only a few towns away. I've talked with the postmaster in both the old and new towns and nobody can tell me where the hell it is! I have a tracking number but it is still saying "forwarded" since monday, it has not been updated. They all agree that it is taking way too long. One offered to email some of the carriers in the area to see if they can look around for it. My question is, has anyone had an experience like this? Do you think it will turn up eventually or is it lost?? This sucks!! I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  25. Move closer to a 7 day a week dz and go jump after work like me! Well, I didn't move there, I happened to live about a mile from the dz when I started jumping, lucky me.
