Unsupportive spouse???
peanutgallery replied to peanutgallery's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
okay......I started this thread for advice on the support thing and to see if anyone else has had the same problem and now it has turned into me ending my marriage due to skydiving, which is totally not the case. I can see where you are coming from that I am still on a "high" from being new at it but I still don't think that should have anything to do with it. So that being said...I am NOT getting divorced due to skydiving, I just wish my husband would be a little more supportive. That's it. I used to have a handle on life, but it broke -
I have some old jewelery from my grandmother that was appraised a few years ago for a few hundred dollars a piece. Does anyone know where I would go to sell them? There are about 7 or 8 pieces (all ugly and I would never wear them) I will keep one or two for sentimental purposes but I really need the money so I figured it might be a good time, how do I do that? Thanks for that....I passed in on to some family in Florida. I used to have a handle on life, but it broke

Congrats! Do you mind if I asked what you paid for the rig? I know I'll be looking eventually and I'm just curious as to what beginners are dropping on custom rigs. If you don't want to post it that's cool. I used to have a handle on life, but it broke

Unsupportive spouse???

Eh...I don't know if I agree with you. I don't see what my jump numbers has to do with it. I discovered a sport that I LOVE and he should be happy for me. I'm offended by your comment to "think like a mature adult" as you don't know the whole situation and are being very quick to pass judgement. Thanks for the input anyway. Eh.....it was a no go, crappy weather Try again tomorrow, hopefully I can get 1 and 2 done. I used to have a handle on life, but it broke

Did you go to the wind tunnel before or after that first jump??? If it was after, your next jump should be a whole new experience. Be careful with those meds! I used to have a handle on life, but it broke

I get em out by stricking a match and touching the hot tip to the tick and it backs right out. Make sure you save it to show the doc. Don't pull cause if the head gets stuck in there it's very hard to get out. I used to have a handle on life, but it broke

here's my new theory....even though skydiving isn't so much of a physically active sport that will neccissarily keep you in shape, having your adreniline pumping high all the time speeds up your metabolism and helps you burm more calories. True or not? Sounds good to me so make the damn cake, go jump, then eat the cake!! I used to have a handle on life, but it broke

Thanks for all the insight everyone! I'm glad I'm not the only one in this boat. Thanks AFFI for shedding some "down to earth" light on the situation. Just some clarification on my particular situation....yes, I only live about 15 minutes from the dz AND because I'm a teacher, I'm home all summer so I spend the weekdays there and I'm usually home by the time the husband gets home anyway (still doesn't like it that I'm there all day). I usually spend the weekends with him hiking or doing whatever. I guess it is a very individualized situation, I just wanted some other views on it. Thanks guys! Well your obviously thinking about jumping again since you joined dz.com So you've been thinking about it for 12 years and haven't been able to do it to keep your wife happy? That doesn't seem right either I used to have a handle on life, but it broke -

Okay...I recently fell into the wonderful world of skydiving. My husband was NOT happy about me doing my first jump but went along with it because he knew it was something I always wanted to do. Of course I got hooked (which he said he knew would happen). I started AFF and for every new thing that I do good, I get sooooo excited and proud of myself and he seems to not really want to hear it. He'll listen and ask how it went but he in no way shares my enthusiasm. He also gets annoyed when I spend too much time at the DZ (even though I always ask him to come). He says he is supportive and that he just doesn't understand it (not to mention he's not too happy about the money it involves). It sucks. Anyone have a similar problem??? I've heard of golf ruining marriages, but skydiving?? I used to have a handle on life, but it broke -
