  1. Haha, this is true. People's kids can be hell, walking through the lines in the packing area, dripping ice cream on your rig, running through the landing area while you're on final. UGH, Anyway, just to clarify, I was specifically talking about dogs on a leash at the dz, no chance of them being anywhere near the equipment or the landing area. Also, if they are on a leash it's pretty easy to clean up after them, if they are running around all day unleashed, it's another story. My dog rarely barks at the dz, she's pretty quiet most of the time. Plus she's got an actual dog bark, not one of those yippee yappy high pitched ones that don't quit. Leave THOSE dogs at home please!
  2. Since getting divorced, it has been very hard to be at the dz all day with no one to let the dog out. My home dz, while initially having a "no dogs" policy has accepted my dog and the packer's dog as the dz mascots because they know we have no choice but to bring them. My dog is a 20 pound, very friendly beagle mix who everyone loves. I've been trying to venture out to other dz's in the area but my day always has to be cut short because it's not fair to leave her home for 10 hours alone (which make for a short day if your traveling 4 hours round trip to the dz). Just curious as to people's opinions about dogs on the dz. I know some dz's are strictly against it and others are cool. If your particular dz is super cool about dogs, let me know and I'll be sure to visit!! I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  3. Back in February I hurt my knee snowboarding. Since the season has started up again, it's been getting worse so I finally went to get it checked out, low and behold...cross tear in the meniscus and a partial tear of the ACL. I'm trying to put off the surgery until the fall cause I don't want to be laid up for the season (and I want to be recovered for the holiday boogie, haha). The doctor says about 6-8 weeks before I'm skydiving again. Anyone had anything similar, I know it's a pretty common thing so I'm wondering the "actual" recovery time. How long before you were in the air again? I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  4. Can you camp on the dz? What's the dog policy? I may need to bring the beagle I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  5. That's a pretty cool site! It says I should go to Portland Oregon. The list included quite a few cities in Oregon and Arkansas, two places I would have NEVER considered before. There was a few in California and Washington as well. Pretty cool, thanks! I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  6. yeah, can't say I'm much of a vegas girl
  7. Now that's a change! Maybe something to think about.... know anything about the teacher certification transfer criteria? I'm NOT going back to school unless it's for a PH.D I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  8. Nope, they don't. I checked out the area my dad is in, Orange Park, just south of Jacksonville and was not impressed with the schools at all. Also, it seemed to be very transient as I think a lot of Florida is. I wouldn't want to go much further south as I like the change of seasons. I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  9. Sooo.....grew up in Long Island, moved to Hawaii to live with my then boyfriend, then followed him back to Connecticut where he became my husband and I finished grad school and started my career as a teacher....he is now my ex husband and I am stuck in the middle-of-nowhere CT where I have no family and there is not a whole lot to do. I feel like I need to get the hell outta here but it's SCARY and I think that's how people get stuck for good. LI's out...too expensive. Dad's in Florida...retirement central. Mom's in Wisconsin....tooo cold. Brother's in Southern California....love it there but also, very expensive. Any suggestions? Anybody absolutely love where they live? It's gotta be somewhere where teacher's salaries are decent and cost of living isn't super high. I love the outdoors, hiking, kayaking etc. And of course, somewhere near a friendly dz, a built in set of new friends would be nice too

  13. Haha, well I was planning on it but since he's kind of a pain in the ass (but I love him) and will drive me nuts after a few hours, I'd rather be skydiving! OH, AND he's recovering from the flu....hence the possible added day at the dz. If you know men and being sick, you know how fun it is to be around them. I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
  14. So I'm leaving tomorrow to visit my brother in Huntington Beach. Yaaaay! I plan on spending all day Sunday jumping at Elsinore and possibly Saturday too, we'll see how it goes. I'm going to do the basic excel camp with Mel on Sunday. So here's the deal....I jump at a small cessna dz in CT. I've only ever jumped out of 182's and 206's, I only have 51 jumps and I've never been to a big dz. I'm a little nervous..... So if anyone wants to take me under their wing, I'll be the one that looks lost I'm also going to check out the area as a possible relocation possibility, Going through a divorce and the moment and I need to get the F* out of here at some point. Alright, I'm pumped for a great vacation!! -Keri Oh....if anyone lives out by Huntington Beach and wants to bum around with me I'll be there till Tuesday night I used to have a handle on life, but it broke

  19. (knocking on wood) I am not sick, haven't been and don't feel like i'm getting anything BUT I have a class full of 3rd graders that seem to be the walking ebola virus. I agree, it seems like EVERYONE is sick with deathly, long-lasting illnesses....YUCK! I used to have a handle on life, but it broke
