  1. I'm a fan of piling on so I'll add this; Seinfeld went off the air 10 years ago. Yes, all of you remember the show well and are all freakin ancient! The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  2. After 8 long months deployed I will finally be back on the DZ this weekend! I'm planning to use my 190 (220 exit wt) that I put about 60 jumps on during my last two active months. Any opinions about whether I should go with a larger canopy for the first 5-10 jumps back, maybe a 210? I'm very comfortable with the 190 but would like to hear a few voices of experience weigh in. And asking an instructor or the people that know how I fly will not be an option until I get there! The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  3. Hey, can we get some details on what you guys have planned? Whatever it is I'm sure it will be a good time. See you on the DZ! Lou The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  4. I once spent two entire weekends on the bench because of high winds. This was with a two hour drive (one way), both saturday and sunday, both weekends. So after driving to the DZ every weekend day for a month I got 2 jumps in. It SUCKED but it was worth the wait. The last thing you want is to be under canopy in a high wind situation that you don't know how to deal with. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.

My 2 cents is that the best way to say that you had a great experience is to continue on into the AFF program. All jumpers should be involved in growing the sport on some level and it looks like that's what they did with you. Unlike the opposite which sadly happens way too much. My DZO claims that new students are his best advertisers - they just can't stop talking about how much fun they have! D The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  6. Thanks. I have no idea how hefty the guy is but I'll drop Tony an email. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  7. Kevin, can you let me know what the weight limit for tandems is? I've put on a few pounds and not sure if my rig still fits (joke). I've also got a few folks that want to come out for this thing and I'm being told that one guy may be a little hefty. Louis The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  8. My experience was this; right off of AFF I did not want to make any drastic changes. At least it seemed that changing from analog to digital was a big step at the time. So I jumped with both. I put the digi right above my analog and it allowed me to have a side by side comparison as well as the trusty analog there in case there was an unexpected problem with the new digi. It worked great and soon I retired the analog and have not used one since. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  9. Thanks Jump! But I'm actually still in Iraq (everyone else is already back) for another 30 days or so. I'm stuck in TQ waiting for my flight out. But then I'll be back in Raeford soon after the plane lands! I hope no one is camping in my spot when I get there! The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  10. Thank you, you have been SO much help! The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  11. Hey gang, does anyone know of any scheduled 4th of July Boogies in the East/S East/South US this year? Maybe something that 'everyone' already knows about so no one bothers to advertise? I'm trying to get a head start on planning my summer travels but I can't find where anyone has anything planned that weekend. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  12. This is TOO perfect! All of us Jarheads (Louis, Dan, & Neil) will be back from Iraq & post deployment leave just in time for this one. The timing couldnt be better! Count all of us in from start to finish baby! See you in about a month. Lou The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  13. I'm leaving Herndon Thursday night heading that way. But I'm not coming back to the area for about 3 weeks so you would have to find a ride back. Let me know if that works for you. D The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  14. I got one with the new one I bought from paragear, com The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  15. Well I'm in Cali for a few more days and it looks like I may get an unexpected opportunity to make a jump or two. It appears that I will be about half way between Perris and Elsinore. They both look like great DZs but I will only be able to get to one of them before heading back to NC. Any reccomendations out there? The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  16. I won't go in depth here as I do not intend to alter the subject of this thread. I don't know you or why you wrote what you did. Jokes are fine, but that was a bad one. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  17. I've jumped with folks with all kinds of afflictions; diabetes, cancer, African-American, epilepsy, bum tickers, missing limbs, etc. Quote What the fuck is this bullshit? Since when is being Black an affliction? I like to think that I'm a pretty tolerant person, but damn. - And no one here called him on this? 18. I'd be down with it! Depends on the dates, costs, etc. of course. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  19. Can anyone elaborate on the differences between the rectangle & semi elliptical chutes? Under the Navigatiors I could do a 360. But under the Sabre 2 I can do no shit spirals, turn exactly where I want to, and get a really strong flare. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  20. I have just downsized to a Sabre 210. This is after learning with a Navigator 260, 240, & 220. I was given a decent class on the different flight characteristics and some of what to expect and how to deal with it. But I find that it flies much farther on final than any of the Navigators ever did. I set up my pattern at about the same altitude each time but ended up twice as far away from my target. The canopy seems to keep flying and not want to come down. Now I've started coming slowly to half brakes on final, and this puts me down much closer to where I'm aiming to land. Any advice, tips, or suggestions out there on how to fly (instead of being flown by) this thing? Also, my exit weight is around 200lbs which if I'm doing this right, makes my wing load .95-1. Big D
