  1. I second that! The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  2. That makes percect sense for an evaluation. But where does a prospective coach go for the experience? Where is the 'roadmap', if you will, for becoming a coach then instructor? The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  3. So I'm sitting here watching UFC and damn! Did I hear that shit correctly?!! 10 December it will be on in the NC baby! Tickets are not even available yet. There isn't even a fight card yet. But I don't care, I will be there! And oh by the way, it's an event to support TBI patients. Dana White is truly one of the good guys out there. D The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  4. Nothing wrong with a tent, I live in one every weekend on the DZ! Stupid things...I've turned down countless weekend dates since the women I meet live where I live, which is 2 hours from the DZ. My standard line to all new women I meet now is "if you want to see me on the weekend you will have to find the DZ." I don't get laid as much anymore... The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  5. Thanks Pops for the attempt to refocus this thing. I'm certainly curious to see if anyone has anything constructive to add or a new direction to explore here... D The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  6. I have to agree here. But knowing the Ken Shamrock of old, hate him or love him, he's got game. I just don't believe that Slice can win a technical fight that lasts more than 2 rounds. If Shamrock can avoid the early knock out, he wins by submission. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  7. Okay. I'm impressed. Seriously. I've funneled 2 ways. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  8. I'm not being a hater here, I had this happen to me before. This was a much smaller attempt of coures. Dont the 'rules' say that if you don't complete whatever you attempt, then the entire jump is a wash? The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  9. I understand that DZOs will have to make a finance based decision here, but I offer the following; why doesn't anyone (or does someone?) pair up students/instructors/coaches in FJC? Doesn't it make sense that there would be a hand-off from instructor to a coach who has some SA on how the student has progressed? The first time I ever heard of a coach was when I was ready to do a coach jump. Then I never made a second jump with any of them. It was simply whoever was available at the time. Should a student have one set of instructors/coaches all the way through or would there be more of a benefit to being exposed to multiple teaching styles? D The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  10. You need to RELAX!!! Forced fun never is. Just based on your post I would say that you are way too serious about this. The fun comes from just being in the moment, not stressing about your performance. If you are that stressed in the air, go to a tunnel. Work on whatever it is you are having problems with, without the stress of going splat if you fuck it up. You need a serious chill pill. Go get drunk or something, then try again. After you sleep it off, of course! D The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  11. I FNG told you so! Against everything that we all know as holy and was supposed to happen, Evans found a way to win. If he does it once or twice sure, its a fluke or luck. But 17 times? C'mon. Lets think about this. At what point does everyone admit that the guy may not know how to fight, but he certainly knows how to win fights. Evans is on a long list of guys/gals/teams that somehow, someway, always end up winning. D The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  12. You're not even close. I have around 150 and still dont have my A. I'm waiting for at least 200 and a coach course. But a buddy of mine is well over 500. The true king procrastonator! Oh yeah, dont forget the beer! Congrats. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  13. OOOH-FUCKING-RAH! The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  14. The link here that I'm refering to is that of Whuffo - tandem - AFF - newbie - coach - AFFI/TM - S&TA - DZO? As a community we have to take an active interest in growing the sport. We must grow our own DZ staff lest we become extinct. Granted, this analysis is severly over simplified, but you are all smart folks - you get the point. So maybe a better discussion topic would have been - what should we be doing to grow the sport and ensure a quality experience for all involved (fun jumpers, tandem passengers and AFF students)? 15. I have to wonder if some of you even watch the fights. Wow. Even without getting into who 'should' have won, why, and how, you have to acknowledge results. Evans has never lost a fight. It's the same reason you still can not safely bet against the Patriots. Until someone TRULY proves that he can be beaten, everyone needs to shut the fuck up. Did I mention that Evans has never lost a fight? Dana stated at the end of the following season of TUF that there had only been only one fighter that he had underestimated - Evans. Have we learned nothing from his mistake? But yeah, I voted for the Iceman too. Hey - my son loves him. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  16. Awesome! I grew up playing football in Louisiana (LSU - SEC football rules the universe) and went to college in Illinois. They just don't get it up there... The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  17. This tornado stuff is bullshit! Were shut down this weekend because of Hannah. There are also predictions of Ike coming this way too. I've half a mind to go down to the beach and moon the both of them. Yes. We laft work early and I'm drinking already. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  18. HELLOOOO!!!! Thats exactly what I'm doing here! When I first got into this sport I was told that 1/3 of it is what you learn (1/3 freefall, 1/3 canopy). So someone give me some info I can use! Any recommended books, video, supplementary courses, etc. Thanks. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  19. After reading the post on coach rating requirements, as well as hearing a lot of opinions on the DZ, let me ask this; What's wrong with the coach program? Is someone with 100 jumps really experienced enough to deal with unliscensed jumpers? Given the current dynamics of the coach rating, what can someone do to be a better coach, outside of just taking the course? The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  20. Anyone know of any literature concerning 4-way? How does a self taught team go about learning the details of the different positions, blocks, exits, etc? The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  21. Also talk to the school first. At my DZ a tunnel trip is now included in the FJC for exactly that reason. I've heard nothing but positive reviews from the instructors. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  22. This was quite the topic of discussion around the DZ over the weekend. You are all welcome at Raeford until this thing gets off the ground. It would be great to have you guys. See you out there. D The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  23. U racist fuck The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  24. We welcome all that CSS refuses to train! And even if the fridge is full, you still owe beer... BTW, CSS is a great DZ. I had a great time there. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
  25. My Viso has recently locked up on 3 occasions. Once under canopy and twice in freefall. But only on one of those jumps did it give me a false reading; it read 2900 during a big way that the break off alt was 4500. People were still turning points so that was a huge clue that it was wrong. The other mals gave me an error code which was an immediate trouble sign. Now I jump with a digi and an analog.
