  1. I Miss Her Sometimes by The Love Poet I ran into my old girlfriend the other day. Then I backed up and ran into her again. I MISS HER SOMETIMES!
  2. Oh, and when you do get that monster in the bag put the bag in the tray. Then jump on it with your knees and pull up on the side flaps and 'wiggle-wiggle' to get it down in the container farther. Thread your pull up cord, get a good grip on it (packing tools are nice here) and put one leg over the top of the rig to hold it down and "lean back, ah lean back." Use your body and leg strength to lever it closed. Had another smallish packer that would put her feet on the bottom of the tray push the rig out with her legs to close it.
  3. That would be just like Georgetown. Not a single stop sign in the whole city. Any traffic lights had the bulbs busted out of them. Total organized chaos, a mix of defensive and 'mine are bigger- out of my way' driving. Suprisingly few dented cars on the road.
  4. Packing has a lot more to do with control than brute strength. You get the air squeezed out and sausaged, tuck the top half into the tail and control it then jump off and get the bottom fold. Then you control the bottom half with you feet and knees while doing the top half. If you try to muscle it you get into problems. You push down here to keep the air out and it slides out over there. I have seen one guy get the air out, walked off to have a coke, then came back to finish his job and the damn thing hardly moved. Or learn to Psycho pack
  5. Door! Open the door! It's cold back here! Keep your ass SHUT!
  6. Hey! Everyone rushing to keep Krisanne company broke the chat!
  7. You may want to consider retaining an attorney for when the guy's insurance tries to shaft you on your damages.
  8. Isn't this one of the funnest threads we've had in a while? I feel like I'm actualy BS'ing around a campfire with a few beers. We should do this more often. Good topic Goose!
  9. You think I'm being overly optimistic?? I suppose it is a bit of a pipe-dream but it would be a nice thought. I see parachute packing a lottery right now. Basically, you wait for your number to come up (malfunction). Does that sound right to you ?? Actually, well, Yes. I'd like five quick-picks please. Baby needs a new para-chute!
  10. Im sure you are gonna hear about that from some sky-chick Anyhow, I agree with you that we don't need more regulation . . . just STANDARDIZATION !!! Let's get the world's top skydivers together at a big meet to discuss standardized methods for training, packing, equipment, etc. Is that getting people to think for you?? NO . . . its letting experience guide you down the right path. What, what WHAT??!! Skydivers agreeing on the the best way to do something ??!! My god, man! That's a sign of the apocalypse! Think of the kittens!
  11. This is exactly my point !! Should new jumpers be taught to pack with enough confidence to have to "knock on wood" when they are done?? HELLO?? I want to be taught by EXPERIENCED people with many hundreds or thousands of packs so that I am not leaving anything to chance. Relax! It'll open.
  12. How about the USPA . . . why not let skydivers set some rules about skydiving ?? No one wants the Feds in the picture . . . some skydiver-sanctioned rules would be nice, no?? They're more like 'guidelines' than actual rules
  13. 1 While will be equivalent to the amount of time required to place a 1/2 empty 12 oz can of beer on a table, stand up from a La-Z-boy recliner model 12543, walk 4 meters to a fridge, rumage around and retrieve another can of beer, visit the john and return to the La-Z-Boy. Strangely enough it is the exact time of an NFL Sunday commercial break.
  14. I'm currently finishing my proposal to the BIPM to bring time onto the metric system. The proposed unit is (1) While [WH].
  15. OOOH I like that idea! I've hop n poped other student's student pack just to show them they are indeed doing it right, but that is a nice idea.
  16. Other: Learn from observation and practice with your peers. That's what bad weather days are for. Like I said- if you have to pay for a course because no one will take the time to teach you, you are jumping at the wrong DZ.
  17. USPA A-card You have to pack it yourself, jump it, show that you know how to hook it up, take it off, change the loop, and service the rig. How you learn that is up to you. The FAA, however, has no such requirements on the main. You jump it, you pack it. Opinions do vary, but I was one of those S/L'ers that emptied trash and fueled planes and I stand by my beliefs on this topic. OK-back to the OP.
  18. If you need to pay someone to teach you to pack, you are at the wrong dropzone.
  19. The traffic jams on the interstate are a definite must.
