  1. That was disturbing..... enough said Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  2. Ah yes, Wildfan has actually been helping me out a ton lately, cause I'm getting a group of mostly tandems to jump in May at Wissota... sounds like it'll be a great place to call home after certification
  3. Eau Claire is about 1 1/2 to 2 hours north of La Crosse depending on how much of a hurry you are in and what/where is CF ? By the start of summer I should have my A license, and will hopefully be jumping as much as possible... You should let me know once you get back to good ol' Wisconsin if you want to get some people together to jump!
  4. I actually did my first three tandems at Wolf River Skydiving in Shiocton WI in September... that's right by Omro if I'm correct? And Wisconsin Rapids?! I'm living in La Crosse right now, going to college, but my parent's house is in Plover.... (15 min) from Wisconsin Rapids... next time you're going to jump there you should let me know! ;o) Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  5. Hey! Sorry I didn't see this earlier.... wow... $740? Really? I'm looking at a grand total of $1415.00 for the AFF training at Skydive Twin Cities.... I really wanted to do AFF because I've done 7 tandems already and I'm getting soo excited to freefall solo... as I told you already in my PM, I'm coming out w/a group May 19th and was hoping to jump by myself that Sat..... do you think that would still be an attainable goal if I opted for the static line course? 6. Impressive website... and don't I wish I could make it this weekend... that sounds like such a blast, and I'm getting so stir crazy... I just wish I could jump yesterday already!!! A couple of other people commented on the fact that DZ's that are clubs are different because the instructors aren't making a living off of it. That does make a lot of sense, and will probably give me an idea of the type of DZ I'll want to call home once I finish my AFF training. In any event, I think I've decided on bringing a couple cases of for my tip when our group goes in May and letting the rest of the people decide on their own about tipping. Thanks again to everyone for your input! Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  7. 8. Replying to: Re: [Icon134] just bought something over the internet and want my money back, am i screwed? by TrophyHusband Post: that's what i was thinking. the product was delivered, and there really isn't any way to return it. its really up to them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- sorry to say, but I think you're right... I have a feeling they'll be telling you that because all the parts of what you ordered are there, they won't refund you. What you purchased wasn't technically "defective".... it's just confusing. Maybe you should just stick to ordering cute shoes like me
  9. Lady ~ I understand what you mean... and you're right, your tattoo is yours, and is unique to you and you alone. The only reason why I commented on the language thing, is because I remember hearing a long time ago that (I think it was) Britney Spears had an Asian symbol tattooed on her that she thought meant something, but then it turned out to mean something completely different. I'm an art major so I understand the beauty of caligraphy (in any language) and obviously I'm not trying to compare you to Britney Spears... I'm sure you researched your tattoo before getting inked... but I still find it very interesting.... that the design of letters or words is so popular right now... I wonder if people in China are as fascinated with English letter designs.... just a thought Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  10. you're right... but I didn't want to offend my TI by not tipping him, if he usually gets tips.... also... if you think $25 is outrageous.... my friend charged her jumps on her daddy's credit card and gave her TI a $50 tip..... each time! (we jumped a total of 4 times) add that up and tell me it's not crazy Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  11. ladyflyer had a pic attachment on one of her posts in here awhile back of her tattoos... I don't know how to attach it again, sorry! I just always find it weird that people decide to tattoo a different language on their bodies... seems weird if you can't read it.... are you sure yours doesn't say "toe nail" or something else? 12. Okay... I'm trying to reply to this all here... lets see, first off and most importantly, I have never tipped a cow, even though I do live in wisconsin.... smartasses! Secondly... it was one of the manifests who told us that we should tip... they didn't add it on or anything, but they told us something to the effect of "it is expected to tip your tandem instructor a $25 tip" and then looked at us like, "that better be okay with you" Also, I'm a waitress too, so I completely understand that, and my TI was awesome, so I tipped accordingly. However, I was a little annoyed with the fact that we were basically "expected" to tip. I'm thinking I will bring some beer along when our group goes... that could never be wrong it sounds like Again, thanks so much for your input everyone !! 13. Here is a pic of my tats. As you can see they are in a place where I can conceal them if I choose to. _________________________________________________ New on here... please don't be offended when I ask this... But I always wonder... I see so many people with Asian caligraphy tattoos... Ladyflyer..... in what language is your tattoo on your right shoulder? Second question, do you know how to speak/read that language? Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  14. sounds good, thanks much! Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  15. lol! oh believe me... I know! I got together 9 of us to jump last september, but I invited probably 25... this time around I'm just going to keep bothering them until they give me a yes or no answer... that's the most annoying part! "yeah... I for sure want to jump!..." (one week later) ..... "I don't know... I don't have the money/I'm scared of heights/I forgot I had this going on/I forgot that I'm a chicken shit".... grr... annoying! Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  16. Okay... so I'm not the only one who thought that was a bit weird? Good. My tandem instructor was a lot of fun, but I did think that the way we were basically told to tip was a little crazy... however, I was NOT going to miss the opportunity to jump in Hawaii!
  17. So, I'm getting a group of around ten college kids together again to jump... (most of them will be doing tandems... hopefully I'll be jumping by myself by then!) Anyway... when my friend and I jumped in Hawaii, the staff flat out told us we had to tip each instructor at least $25... so we did, no prob. But I'm just wondering... is that about right for a tip? What do instructors expect as a tip? I don't know what to tell the group. Any input would be much appreciated!
  18. Yeah, I would agree with the thumbs up pose. I tried doing the rock-n-roll 2 finger pose and in the video it looks like im throwing gang signs all the way down... __________________________________________________ Haha! that's so true.... I'm sure this is a girl thing, but when I got video of my first jump in Hawaii, I blew the camera guy a big ol' kiss right before exit.... I know, I'm such a badass :) Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  19. Replying to: Re: [steve1] Scary stories from the old days? by billbooth Post: Although I made my first jump in 1969 on a 28' round, with a front mount reserve, with no pilot chute in it, no automatic opener, no RSL, and only about two hours training, I wasn't scared a bit. (Probably because I was 18 years old, and invincible.) What did scare the hell out of me though, was when I found out some 30 years later, that my instructor only had 6 jumps when he trained me. I hit the ground so hard, it knocked me clean out...and when I woke up, I was greeted with the unbelieable sight of my jumpmaster trying to get my canopy back from a cow, which was in the process of EATING it. We got it back, patched up the new holes with more duct tape, and packed it up for my next jump. Students nowadays have it far too easy, if you ask me. _________________________________________________ Oh my god.... !!! I think I just woke my roommate up because I was laughing so hard!!!! ahahahahhahaha Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  20. I've only just begun in this amazing sport, but I'm trying to bring some more people in to experience it! If anyone is in Wisconsin on May 19th and would like to join a group of approximately 10 of us to jump (most of them tandems) at Wissota Skydiving in Chippewa Falls, WI.... let me know! 21. Okay..... not fair.... Northern Wisconsin may as well be another country.... those people are crazy.... central Wisconsin and down includes only perfectly sane, uninterested in molesting dead deer types of people.... I promise! Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  22. So, I just got back a week ago from Oahu where I did 4 tandem jumps... I'd done 3 jumps here in Wisconsin before that, and I'm sooo ready to be jumping by myself now! Can't wait until the middle of April when I start my AFF training! :) Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  23. haha... very new on here... but I am a college student, so I at least feel safe discussing drinking.... if you like DMB at all, I downloaded an entire DMB power hour... haven't had a chance to burn it to a cd yet, but hopefully this summer... let me know if you'd like me to send it your way.
